Derek Dooley's practice policies notebook The Knoxville media just got their first "Nick Saban" press conference from Doolander himself. The Rules Public Access - First and foremost the bad news, NO public access at any time. Spring Practice - Tennessee spring football practices are open to the media ONLY during the individual drills. Following the drills the remaining practice time will be closed. Injuries - Members of the media should not use cell phones at practice, and are not permitted to report on injuries that occur during practice. Assistant Coaches - Derek Dooley believes there should be one voice for his “corporation.” The new policy regarding assistant coaches will be as follows, “assistant coach topics of discussion are limited to coach/player feature stories.” Player Interviews - Players will be available at set times throughout the week after practices. True freshman will not be available for interviews. Scrimmages - Scrimmages are practice and practices are closed to the fans and the media. Including spring and fall camp scrimmages. Fall Practice - Closed to the general public. Sorry Ron. Media will be permitted to attend individual drills on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Mondays in the Fall - Derek Dooley will hold a weekly media interview and press conference beginning at 11:30 a.m. There will be player interviews from 11:30-1:00p.m. Head coach Derek Dooley will begin at 12:30. Dooley’s media interview will be available live through www.utsports.com. |

Looks like a winner to me. I thought Saban was always all business and it appears that Tom Dooley is cut from the same cloth. |

But Shakey, what about all of the fans who feel that Doolander and the media owe them an entertainment forum? Afterall, they spend money on seats, the VASF, tickets. Doesn't their wants, needs, and desires come before the team's needs? :$ |
