A Very Manly Man

I probably would feel better....but that's because I wouldn't have known what he did to us by leaving three weeks prior to signing day and taking everybody but his brother in law with him.

That should tell you how bad things are: I was optimistic EVEN with FULMER! I dont think I'll be able to make my patented 178+ to 0 predictions every week this year.

we are going to be bad, bad, bad...
Well, I've just won every argument from here on out, because you've pretty much owned up to the fact that you're an idiot. ;)

Because even though Kiffin has no scruples and probably would have gotten us stuck on probation within 5 years: he could recruit, and his staff could coach. We were going to suck in 2010 regardless, but the future looked promising. With Dooley? I dont have any confidence in him at all. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Why should you feel better about Dooley than Kiffin?

A: You said it yourself. Because he's not going to get our sorry asses put on probation. Kiffin was a disaster waiting to happen Zip. Get a grip. The Lane Train just about derailed Knoxville and Dooley may not be the guy to fix it but, he ain't gonna get it to the point of irreparable harm the way the Kiffins would have.

I think Dooley's staff has demonstrated success with coaching (except Joseph and Hinshaw) - even the S&C Coach - and I'm very comfortable here. I would even say that I'm happier than with Kiffin's staff.

But ... but it is the recruiting that is the true concern here. Dooley lost most of Kiffin's non-enrolled commitments this year, and he is not exactly causing recruits to salivate over the Vols. I'm worried that we're going to end up with sloppy seconds.

Again, Kiffin was going to get us on probation...but he was going to win big in the process. I can handle that, actually.

I don't think anybody has confidence in the program's stability right now Rev. I can't blame them, can you? Dooley can change that with the right moves I think.

Again, the word idiot is creeping into this conversation. ^_^

Not really, no. I mean it keeps coming from you because you have a smallish vocabulary I guess...but it's really just more pragmatism than anything. If someone were to offer you this deal: you will get a NC next year, but 2 years of probation 5 years down the road...would you take it? I would. No brainer.

It's not all gloomy Zip. Just look at all the positives with the Vols right now ...

(1) A very good coaching staff (word here is "coaching"), including the DC, OC, OL, and DL
(2) A couple of very good, top 10, recruiting classes in a row with lots of NFL promise
(3) Probably the best locker room in the NCAA
(4) An interim coaching slot (Hinshaw) that can be replaced at the end of the year with a coach that can actually recruit
(5) Our name is still in the news (the positives) without all the Kiffin ineptness (the negatives)
(6) We'll beat Tennessee-Martin, Memphis, and Vandy this year. I mean, that makes us King of Tennessee!
(7) If we also beat Kentucky this year, we'll be King of the SEC North.
(8) Georgia is still pissed that Dooley stole Rogers from them.

Still not helping, Rev. I'm hopefull that the coaching staff is at least on par with the last one, or maybe even an improvement (say what you will about our previous coaching staff, but our team was as fundamentally sound last year as they have been in a VERY long time). I just have no hope whatsoever in having a roster capable of competing game in, game out.

To make matters worse? I hate basketball, and we are currently a basketball school. That's just pouring salt in the wound. I mean nothing against Pearl and the basketball team being good, that's awesome. I just dont really care....

No. Because it tarnishes my University FOREVER and their National Championship. Jaysus Zippo. Those fucking Bammers have rotted your brain.
