Those guys will have every move scrutinized. It will not be business as usual out there. They will be under a microscope and what passed as okay 5 years ago, will not be allowed.

Every dirty detail about these guys and their time in Knoxville will leak out.

I was just talking with someone in the office about this: Kiffin has pretty much sealed the deal on his pre-40 retirement plan, and USC has pretty much ensured having the NCAA permanently implanted in their ass a-la Alabama for the last 10 years.

This shit isnt good right now but in the long run, UT is going to be better off than Lane. It wasnt just bad timing for UT, it was a bad career move for Lane. He's going to be the USC probation-laden fall guy.

I am still amazed that USC would extend an offer to Kiffin with sanctions looming and allegations such altered transcripts, etc. If I'm not mistaken, the NCAA can force Kiffin, Orgeron and Chow to testify now that they have been re-employed by USC.

IMO, they deserve what they are likely to get.

Keep in mind: USC was in pretty much the same situation we are in now. Finding a guy who will say 'yes' is 3/4 of the problem.

Could it possibly be a "trap" set by vengeful USC alumni who know that the NCAA is going to pop them and in turn will get some major players?

Nah, I really think it was just that he was the only guy who would actually take the job. They went pretty far down the list to talk to him.

There's a lot of truth in that and to be honest I'm not even mad about it. The kid is kinda like a doe eyed puppy when it comes to USC. He can't help it. Yes he's handled it like a punk and no, I don't think he did the right thing, but honestly, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. If I had something I doe eyed dream about. Well, actually I do, but that's one dream that is NEVER coming true. I envy him......sigh.......

Really? For that one thing you've always wanted? I don't know. I'm just not that good of a person I guess. I'm glad you are though. We all SHOULD be.

At the end of the day, your integrity means more than your dreams. Commitments have meaning. That thought has cost me tons of money over the years, but it's still true.

You are right. And I agree with you on every primal level. But he did tell Hammy going in. It's not like he wasn't totally honest about that. He was. I dunno, I think this world has corrupted me. Scratch that. I know it has.

All this has taken place after the fact. The NCAA has finished their investigation of USC..

Looking at things the NCAA doles out these days - USC should ride through them easily - Kiffin and his boys win 7 to 9 games - play the sanction card for as many years as humanly possible - and they'll be okay..

its not about good or bad, really. I've never claimed to be a 'good' guy. I've actually never even considered the question. I am, however, very loyal. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever in Kiffin going to USC. I always knew that would be his gig. That's not what pisses me off. It's all about the timing. It was just bad, bad, bad. I mean catastrophy. He blew up our roster. Which was necessary...I agree...but you cant play football without players on the team. Leaving now pretty much ensures we are royally 100% fucked for at least next year. That's what pisses me off. Kiffin is a young guy, that job is going to be there again. The guy they hire now isnt going to be there long.

Gotta think Lane 'The weasel of Oz" Kiffin came to the same conclusion - 2010 was gonna suck a dirty donkey ass - packed his shit up and hauled it outta town..

More than likely further influenced by the colors available to his lovely wife when picking out his fuckin' clothes vs orange..
