Most of these kids are signing with Kiffin, Monte, Orgeron, etc ... and not with UT. They want to play for these coaches and not for the university ... thus, I frankly think going to USC is the right answer for them.

That doesn't excuse the departure of these coaches at the 11th hour, but that's the coaches morality and shouldn't impact the player choice of schools, IMO.

Note to future players at big-time schools: pick the school (it's tradition, education, strive for excellence, etc.) and not the coach.
I said pretty much the same thing in the recruiting board Rev. You are right. They bought the man, not the education. It's just the way it is now and we really shouldn't be too hard on the kids about it. I don't want to strong arm anybody into going or living where they don't want to be.

I'm honestly getting bluer and bluer the more I read about all this. This is just depressing as heck. Bad for everybody involved. Including my weenie little girl heart. Dang I wish I had bigger cojones like y'all do about all the emotional stuff. It's a fatal flaw........

Hang in there 'chef. That is pretty much the way things are these days. Everybody looking out for the big score and a lot forget about the things of value and why they do something in the first place.

I chose UT because of tradition, academic standing in fields of interest and I absolutely enjoyed the area and wanted to be a part of it all. Now you see 18 year olds calling press conferences to announce their self importance. Of course we are partly to blame for giving them the adulation. I also blame the 24 hour news/sports cycle.

Showing my age but the biggest recruiting news that I remember was the social and politcal uproar Richmond Flowers caused by picking Tennessee (allegedly for the track program) instead of the 'Barn or bammer, pissed off enough of the wrong people in the state to railroad his daddy back in the day.

USC will be the last major college football job that Kiffin will hold. No other program would lend themselves to be treated by Kiffin in the way that he treated UT. You don't leave for a new job 3 weeks before NSD with the program's future hanging in the balance. Trust me, this has not fallen on deaf ears and closed eyes. He had batter hope everything works out at USC.
You gotta be Dennis Franchionne's right hand man...
