We're fucked like Granny's Goose. Losing O & Monte also????? Our recruiting class is going to get gang raped. The person I'm really mad at is Kiffin. I know he's not a UT guy.....but geeze it would be nice if he kinda fixed things here before he took off. What a clusterfuck

I believe if they hired Gruden and were able to keep Chaney, Kippy, Garza, Thompson and hired Rodney Garner, we would be okay for the time being.

I'd get on the phone now and ask him if he wants the job.

the problem is recruiting. I'm certain we'll get somebody good....but how long will it take and how many recruits will have jumped ship before the dust settles?

You know Hammy isn't going to hire some guy on the fly.....this will at least take three or four days and that's if we get the first one we talk to....this is going to get ugly and we may not recover for years......

And while I"m lamenting....... FUCK FULMER....anybody who wants that guy back can kiss my OrangeButt.......

Tux asked me what I had heard coming out of SC. When Lane Kiffin's name didn't come up from people I spoke with, that worried me. Then, when Kiffin was asked by the KNS and other media outlets for a comment on whether or not he'd be interested in SC, his comment was "No comment."

Right then and there, I had an idea that it was about 80-20 he was gone. And I suspect many of you felt the same way. If he wasn't going anywhere, he kills the story right at THAT moment. He didn't.

There's an old phrase in theatre: An absence of words isn't an absence of dialogue. Kiffin's lack of words might as well have been "I'll take the job."

Objectively, how does he say no? SC is one of the most historic programs in all of college football and it's a place Kiffin and his family love. Personally...

I'm livid. He struck me as the right guy at the right time for Tennessee. He brought swagger back into the program and had people caring about UT again. He had players excited, recruits excited and fans excited.

Who to hire, now? Heck if I know. But there is one thing I do know: If Phillip Fulmer finds his way back to the sideline, we're done as season ticket holders. In the big picture, UT doesn't care about us; we're not big money donors. But for my family, that's one product we had enough of and won't ever buy again.

What the hell man, you dont have to apologize to Zippy. I think THAT offends me.. The discussion today didnt. If your comments were such that they qualified as 'mean', they must have been in the parts of your posts I didnt read -p

ANYWAY back to our earlier discussion. I still think Lane was heading in the right direction. But the situation we are in now is even worse than Alabama's post sanctions. Lane burnt the roster to the ground much quicker than NCAA sanctions could ever dream of doing. Which was fine with how he was recruiting, but now that this is likely going to be another throw away recruiting class .... ouch.

there is one coach Tennessee should reach out to - and he ain't the greatest coach around these days - a Cookville boy named Mack Brown..

Will Muschamp can take over in Austin - Mack can ride the storm out in Knoxville and set the table for some young stud to take over 3 to 4 years from now..

My brother called me and told me that Muschmap's name was mentioned by a prominent booster friend of his.

zipster - we go back a long way. No reason to be offended - at all. It was one of those rare moments in my life that WTF - it felt, to me at the time, to say something good about Phillip Fulmer - who, as I've said over and over, stayed tooo long as Tennessee's HC..

IMO Tennessee will always recruit well - IMO that is something that most everyone doesn't accept. The issues is does Tennnessee have to recruit at the same level of an Alabama, LSU or Florida to be a danged great football program? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

FUCK Lane Kiffin - and his old man in the ass with an ungreased fence post...
