Jimmy Hyams Criticizes Kiffin For Comments About SEC Officiating

I read where Jimmy Hyams criticized Lane Kiffin for his comments about the SEC officiating in the UT-Alabama game, for which he was reprimanded.

Hyams believes that coaches should accept whatever the officials throw out and move on, no matter if they were wronged or not. Could that idiot be looking for work somewhere else soon?

The fact that Kiffin called out the offiicals, along with Dan Mullen, Bobby Petrino, and Bobby Johnson speaks loudly for the poor job the SEC has done in ensuring quality officiating in games. It also puts the spotlight square on Mike Slive and his officiating crews.

Slive expects the coaches to abide by whatever dictate he issues from his ivory castle and Jimmy Hyams thinks that Kiffin should not stand up for his players and his interests.

Folks in Knoxville should stop listening to the radio station that employs that assclown. Then action will be taken.

What many are failing to understand is Kiffin is yet again taking a calculated risk that will work to his advantage in several ways. The most immediate is that he has served notice to future officials that he will call them out for incompetence. Had he merely complained in Slive's prescribed manner only Slive and perhaps the officials involved would ever hear of it. The problem has repeatedly fallen on deaf ears and several coaching staffs feel they have no choice but comment publicly. Those coaches, CLK included, have helped focus public attention to their inexcusable performance.

The most lasting effect will again be on recruiting. He is showing every prospect that when they lay it on the line for him, he will do the same in return, suspensions be damned. If you come play for him and give your all on the field of play he is going to fight with you and for you. What 17 -18 year old kid would not just eat that up? A coach willing to stand up and say what needs to be said on their behalf. Folks, this guy is good!

I wonder if he will manage to get himself suspended for the Memphis game if we get a bunch of bad calls vs Ole Miss. I really think he will try to push the envelope on this because he keeps winning fans by doing so and Slime just looks stupid when he tries to defend incompetence.

Geez Hyams, have ya even NOTICED that Kiffin isn't the only one? Even the normally mild mannered Bobby Johnson at VU is in on the act. Actually, he's been on it for years. He has on more than one occassion opined that VU didn't get the same breaks from the refs that other teams got because the officials expect them to lose. That more than one coach is complaining, including one that's been in the league more than one year kinda blows the impartiality theory out of the water.

Hyams is still stuck in 1997.

I doubt he takes it that far.
