Yar-Yar adds his voice to the poor SEC officiating debate.

Orgeron may very well get reprimanded.

Mike Slive may believe he has this under control, but it will merely add fuel to the fire and open up the gashed wound.

Remember, Slive works for the SEC school presidents. He can be removed by them.

El Jeffe

Mr. Slive has been at the helm while the SEC has reached the pinnacle of success. The unheard of riches the tv contracts have garnered serve witness to the heights this conference has reached, becoming the envy of all of college athletics. One cannot argue his success to this point and would be foolish to do so.

However along with fame and fortune come jealousy and intense scrutiny. The nation is watching as week after week his officials actions continue to gain more attention than the players on the field. The media smells blood in the water and will continue to direct public perception to what it is portraying as good old down south home cooking. Rather than address the conspiracy theorists head on, Mr. Slive only adds fuel to the fire by attempting to silence those who speak out. This is rapidly becoming a public relations nightmare that may cause permanent damage to the conference. By all indications, the SEC office refuses to recognize the potential disaster this may become. The only statements emanating from Birmingham are incohesive and change from week to week. The only constant is the continued heavy handed attempts to silence the critics.

If this is allowed to continue our conference will again return to being the butt of national jokes. If the scales of public opinion are allowed to continue to tilt toward conspiracy and game fixing no true fan of college sports will take the conference seriously again. The damage will be total and take decades to repair. It is time for Mr. Slive to meet this crisis head on, taking corrective measures that will reverse the course. Rather than continue his attempts to silence the voices of those directly affected by the actions of his officials, Mr. Slive needs to understand where the problem truly lies. The conference is not being damaged by the vocal coaches, they are merely reacting to the problem at hand. If Mr. Slive cannot recognize this fact then the presidents must act swiftly to replace him with someone who can.

Eloquently put El Jeffe, but I know you know these are cocktail party liberals here. They do not rationalize or justify their deeds on the backs of the common man. It is admirable to have faith in them to do what's right it is something else to see their reality.

Why don't we set it up like the Lane Kiffin show and have a different assistant criticize the officials each week? Wouldn't have to worry about that "suspension", though I think Slive would be on thin ice in suspending a coach for anything, much less commenting on the officiating.

That's easily remedied.

Suck it up for a year or two, then BECOME "the better team." You'll get the calls.

You are right on the money about that.

Yes. He is. There's no giant conspiracy for or against Alabama or Tennessee or anybody else. It's name recognition and money common to all sports. Officials are not perfect and this concept that refs are throwing games is ridiculous. Both Tennessee and UGA had a chance to win. They put themselves in those positions, not the refs. They couldn't pull it off. In either case it should not have come down to being that close. Leave it close, you're gonna get beat. Happens all the time.
