PER THE SEC BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - SEC Commissioner Mike Slive has issued a public reprimand to Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin for his public comments concerning officiating on Sunday. "Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics," Slive said. "SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 clearly states that coaches, players and support personnel shall refrain from all public criticism of officials.” “This is the second reprimand for coach Kiffin in this calendar year. Coach Kiffin is on notice that for any further violations of SEC policies will subject him to additional penalties, including suspension.” Kiffin said the following after the Volunteers' loss to Alabama last week, according to onlineathens.com. "You run another play and you throw an interception or they throw another flag on us - I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there and some magical flag appear." |

I bet Slive did not address CLK s contention that the calls were bad. I read over on OM (7decades) that on the block kick the ball was behind the line of scrimmage and could have been advanced by VOLS so Cody taking his helmet off is an automatic 15 yarder and replay the down. Did the ahole Slive address that? |

I think we have a new common enemy to get rid of. We all need to unite to get rid of Mile Slime. This guy sucks, is in bed with Fla, and needs to go. |

I fully support Kiffin in his protest of the officiating. Now it is time for Mike Hamilton to take off his gloves and protect his coach from here on, so to avoid a suspension. I love to see our new coach take on the establishment to ensure his men get a fair and square deal. Edited by TennesseeTuxedo, Oct 26 2009, 03:09 PM.

And what, may I ask, does Hamilton do to support his coach? I mean besides slipping him a CUM or cheating like Bama. Slive will continue to bitch slap Kiffin around because he's an egomaniac with a tv salary and an agenda. This is the same Mike Slive who dipshits the SEC around in the NCAA tournament. (And yes, I KNOW the SEC sucked last year and didn't deserve more teams...this is a year in and out thing). The only bending over Slive is doing is to CUM and Satan and that's the way it's gonna be. Tennessee had an opportunity to win that game inspite of officiating. We didn't pull it off. End of. |

Do you people honestly think I don't know the job of the SEC commisioner? Do you think I don't know things work behind the scenes? Do you think I don't know this isn't always being done behind the scenes. What I'm asking is what can he do? I don't see a real explanation yet. |

He's doing all that he can, as explained. By going to Slive and discussing this, he is in effect providing some cover for his coach and positioning his coach to get some leniency in the future. |

He's doing all he can is an explanation for your assertation that he ought to "take off his gloves and protect his coach?" Right. As explained my ass. He's either doing it or he's not. And what may I ask is it and why hasn't he done it before now? IOW, Slive can be bought by schmoozing behind the scenes? Why even play the damn game unless we're even gonna make Vandy win a few to keep those ratings high. Please. You either win with talent or you don't. Protecting Kiffin is as easy as shutting him up. I'm not advocating he do that, I think what he said was genius, but he ain't winning any friends at the SEC, considering the assertation is that those "friends" can be won at cocktail parties and such.

Hammy will go to bat for his coach. Bank on it. He will not leave his coach hanging out to dry in the wind. Fans will not know what he says or does in that respect, but you know he will be lobbying for his coach and his team. |

In other words, you can't answer my question. Hammy's job has been to go to bat for UT for years. What in the world makes you think he can do anything differently now? |

Obviously you know the answer, so please share it with us. You think that Hamilton has not been going to bat for UT? You obviously have evidence that he has or has not? |

If I were Mike Hamilton, I would schedule an appointment to meet with Mike Slive ASAP. I would say something along these line. Mr. Slive, the University of Tennessee is a founding member and is in good standing with the conference. We are just as important to this conference as Florida and Alabama are. We just don;t happen to be in the mix for the SEC Championship, but that is not stopping our fine young men from playing their hearts out fair and square. I have brought a copy of the game film with me and I would like you to watch this with me. We have a great conference TV package that is second to none and he we have teams that are are second to none, but there is something that is damaging our conference's reputation and we need to discuss it. If you do not wish to address the issue, fans across the country will point out the hypocrisy of our problem at every opportunity on every media available to them. My coach is young and yes, he is not afraid to stand up for his team. I am now in a position to stand up for my coach, for other teams, and ultimately for my conference and the integrity of the game. This is huge. You can address the problem or it will get bigger. It does not need to get any worse than this, when there are over half of the team ADs in this league feeling the same as I do after their teams have been abused. What are you prepared to do? |
