1 - Lane Kiffin, UT - 1-2 record, loss to UCLA stings, but it could be argued that he was left with the worst depth at OL and the worst QB in the SEC to work with. Hired great assistants and is on track to finish with a top 5 class, possibly #1. While the present team looks terrible on offense, and the QB situation continues to be an issue, things look good for the future for the Vols 2 - Gene Chizik, AU - 3-0 record, including a win over a pretty good West Virginia team. The Tigers offense looks much better this year, and their QB is being much more productive. Recruiting has been ok, but not great. The Tigers have a lot of 3 star players in the class, with zero top 100 guys. The staff that was hired looks respectable, but Auburn has to recruit better for the future to keep up with Bama and LSU, in their division. The present looks good, but the future - who knows. 3 - Dan Mullen, MSU - MSU is 2-1, but honestly they have not really beaten anyone worth a whole lot yet. However, the offense looks better, and the spread that he has installed seems to be a better for for the players he has in Starkville. The problem will be recruiting, and it will be tough for MSU to get the players to be able to get to the top of the SECW. The dogs have a chance to get to a bowl this year though. |
