Vols To Shuffle Offensive Linemen

Vlad Richard is on crutches and will likely miss the next game. Jerrod Shaw is moving over to left guard and Aaron Douglas is stepping n to play right tackle.

Judging from Kiffin;s comments, there is going to be some more shake-ups on the offensive line. Sounds like Aaron Douglas is going to get a chance to take over the right offensive tackle spot.

Does Vlad have a torn achilles? If so, this move is one that will last all season long.

Cody Pope sure has disappeared from mention. Did he go by Kiffin's office without getting a haircut? :O

Kiffin Discusses Shaw's Move To Guard

Quote:

Shaw played guard for UT in spring drills but has since practiced at right tackle. Kiffin said he’d prefer not to have linemen play two positions.

“We do that a little bit,” Kiffin said. “You really don’t need to in college if you have recruited the right way and have the amount of depth you need.”

Kiffin said he double trained linemen in the NFL since a team can only allocate seven or eight offensive linemen on its roster. UT is being forced to do so because of a lack of depth on the offensive line, Kiffin said.

That's gonna leave a mark!

New Douglas Starting For UT

Aaron Douglas sounds like he may be a monster tackle before all is said and done. This is a great article that briefly discusses Aaron's move from tight end to right offensive tackle in the course of 6-7 months, after shoulder surgery and without the benefit of strength training. This kid is a natural.

I hope he turns out to be the player that Cregg and Kiffin think he may be.

Aaron Douglas is just a RS freshman, too, and is about to take the reigns for 4 years. He will be an all american tackle by the time he leaves, and will make a lot of money in the NFL. You can just see it coming.
