this weekend. Meyer knows that UT's coaching staff has him figured out. He knows that Tennessee's talent will be nowhere near this low in 2 years. He also knows that his talent won't be this high again. Something tells me that coward won't stick around to take what's coming to him. Wonder who Florida goes after to replace him? Mike Shannahan, perhaps? |

Not gonna happen. A, He just signed a new contract with big buck in its last two years. B, He knows that it is much more difficult to recruit to ND than it was in their glory years and that FLA is the easiest school to recruit to in the whole country. C, He will never have an AD who goes to bat for him like Foley does. Imo Meyer is at FLA as long as Jeremy Foley is the AD. |

I'm not sure about this one at all yet. Let's see what ND does this year, Weis has not been fired yet. If he does get fired, ND does have the money to buy out Meyer - Believe that. Will they go after him? Will he go? No idea. |

Actually, I think Greg is right on this one. I have talked to 3 friends today who happen to be Gator fans...you know, they're women, so they're really just observers. I kid you not that 2 of the three said, "my husband says y'all are gonna be good in 2 years." The Gators know y'all. Those of you who are saying this is not a moral victory are wrong. It was. We got noticed. Big Time! Edited by volchef, Sep 21 2009, 02:27 PM.

That's pretty obvious, we will be pretty good in 2 years, but what did they say about Meyer and ND? |

just keep on believing that.. All this, on one hand badmouthing Tennessee's "talent" - and then yapping about the game in Gainsville as if it was some omen for the future is quite the disconnect. Tennessee was a damned good defensive team last year - and it remains so this year.. Calling Meyer a "coward" - WTF? Stick around and take what's coming to him? Let me be the first to say - given the option - I'd toss Kiffin off the bus if Meyer would take over as the HC in Knoxville.. I wouldn't give it a second thought. We received a first hand report from Gainseville from a nice young man who has lined up and played against some of the best coaches in the game today - and his observations at the end of the game focused on Meyer and his interactions with the Tennessee players. he also had some very nice things to say about Florida fans. |

I think Meyer leaving Florida would have more to do with the fact that he has peaked with Tebow than anything at all to do with Tennessee. His teams will never be as good as they were the last 3 years + this year again. This is not to say they will not be quite good (he's a helluva coach), its just that this is his high water mark. There just will not be anything else for Meyer to accomplish at UF, unless he just wants to a) take his shot at a decade-long dynasty, and b) keep cashing a paycheck from UF. Particularly if he wins a NC this year (and he certainly has a shot at it, UF is good). PS: Tex, I'm not sure I'd trade him for Kiffin. Ask me again after next season. |

First, Charlie Weiss is not leaving by choice or via firing at least for another 1-2 years. Make Shannahan is not coming to coach college football. He is an NFL guy. You think that it is bad for Florida in regards to the Fulmer Cup? Wait unti Shanahan lets all of the outlaws in if he were at Florida. He has a horrible reputation for that sort of thing. |

Florida - replacing Meyer. First phone call - Norman, OK - 'Big Game" Bob Stoops.. Or could lightning strike twice - nab Kyle Whittingham Or hand it over to Charlie Strong |

None of the Gators really talk about Meyer, they talk about Tebow. Can you blame them? But I will say this, they NEVER spoke about the F bomb except in jest. For the Gators to say anything nice about Tennessee would be like, well, HumbleTex saying anything nice about Tennessee.... |
