So somebody give me a slant 101 primer....

Crompy only seems to know how to throw that sideline slant. Yesterday on that 3rd and 6 Cromp took the snap and Quintin was out there reading a damn book he was so open and still JC looked for the slant, didn't see it and threw it away. The couple of times he did complete it I think it was a schemed call, but only acquired very short gains because their are no blockers for the receiver. What am I missing? Why would we risk JC throwing the ball for a 2 yard gain? And where are the blockers?
