Just going down the list in alphabetical order, this one jumped out at me. Bledsoe County over Notre Dame, 53-0! That just doesn't add up. Good win for the Warriors.

I was at the Ensworth-McCallie game tonight, won by Ensworth (they are called the Tigers), 28-13. Ensworth is coached by Ricky Bowers. He is a little guy and the last guy on their sideline you'd think would be the head coach. But he is a winner. I was talking to an Ensworth supporter about him. He told me that Bowers came from a very dysfunctional family with a lot of alcoholism, but wound up at MBA. He used to go through unlocked lockers just to find shoes to wear. But he was a star athlete in every sport he played. His siblings went to Hillsboro. Bowers has been a controversial figure in the past, but if you want to win, no better person than this guy to be your coach. He is a winner. The Ensworth fan I was talking to also said that Bowers (who also coaches hoops for Ensworth) is a better basketball coach than football. Which I've already known for a long time. The Ensworth fan said that Bowers went to Lipscomb after MBA, but he wasn't sure. Anybody know about Bowers after MBA?

Daniel Boone beat Dobyns-Bennett, 17-14.

Polk d Sweetwater, 43-6. Here's hoping the Wildcats can make a run at their first state title.

South Pittsburg beat upstart Signal Mountain on the road, 48-20. Signal Mtn is not there yet, but not a bad result against a longtime, legendary state power.

In the battle of Germantown, the Red Devils beat Houston , 28-14.

In the battle of Murfreesboro, Riverdale beat Oakland, 13-10.

Franklin routed Hillsboro, 35-7.

MUS beat Olive Branch (MS), 20-15. Good win for the Owls.

Ricky graduated from MBA and played hoops in college at Trevecca (corrected). He was a solid athlete. I remember playing him in high school and totally destroyed him on a punt return. I had 30 pounds on him and he got up as if he wasn't fazed. He earned my respect on that play. I am not aware of his past.

FYI - Gallatin beat Wilson Central 33-0 tonight as their kicker hit a 50 yard field goal with 5-6 yards to spare on a slippery field.

Was Don Meyer Ricky's coach at Lipscomb?

Bill, I am completely wrong about where Bowers went to college. Bowers played basketball at Trevecca in Nashville.

Cynical Idealist

Are the Waves undefeated this season Tux? Your's is the first score I have heard this year. My kid has absolutely no interest in football and she has never attended a game while at GHS. She doesn't get that from my side of the family. HA

Hawk, now that I think about your statement, I think you are right. He is the best coach in our state bar none. Thanks for the update, Tux, on Bowers. Did not know he went to Trevecca.
