You can say that again.......Anti-Fulmer in nearly every conceivable way possible.

I think the biggest reservation I had when I was still a Fulmer backer (which was 05, I believe) was that nobody else could possibly recruit nationwide like Fulmer....and boy was I wrong. It wasn't Fulmer...it was Tennessee. Kiffin has embraced the good stuff and changed the bad stuff - if we can in some way cobble together eight wins this year....the momentum will be hard to stop with what Kiffin has put into place.....

Call me crazy-and many, many people have-but I think with the proper coaching(which we have) and motivation (which we have) that 8 wins is VERY attainable.

Play physical, play to win, play the talent on the team...voila, you're back in business baby. Coaching ain't rocket surgery.

I am stuck in a hotel in Jackson, MS with shitty internet service that works once every 3 hours for a few minutes at a time. It is driving me crazy to not be able to surf gthe net for news about the Vols. I spoke toa friend at home last night and he said that the Vols were all over the news.

It is exciting to see this breath of fresh air in the program.

Hey Tux, get yourself an iPhone and forget that hotel Internet shite. I'm pretty lucky the getting is good here in New Orleans, but I honestly haven't bothered to pay for the hotel's service because my phone is really fast. I hate not
being able to see some of the links, but I can get the TVO news which is all I really care about.

Glad to hear we're not going to dumb down our playbook. That alone makes Kiffin the anti Clawson. I know some of y'all are pissed about the possibilty of JC being under center, but this is where I am going to choose to have my coach's back. Look, Kiffin has more to lose than anybody on the team. That decision to play JC alone could cause his career to crumble. He could back off, dumb down, hand off, whatever, but he's not. He believes he has a good system and will do what he must to implement it. He can't preach all in to the players and then not do it himself. Fulmer would and Fulmer did. Lane is a breath of fresh air in every way.

Did anyone see Hueyvol's thread on the other board? He was trying to prove what an ace recruiter Fulmer was but forgot to normalize his numbers for the size of the NFL. The upshot was that he proved Fulmer was only average in recruiting NFL level talent to UT. That is if you accepted his numbers to start with... which I don't.

The other thing which is really pissing me off right now is how every time I see Kiffin he seems perfectly reasonable but when I hear second hand reports they are always about how he eats baby kittens and won't let their mother attend the memorial service for them. I am used to this from the mainstream media because it is what they do. During the first gulf war or the Iraq war I would watch the Pentagon briefings and then read the news reports and realize that the reporters were just making shit up to fit their agenda. They would distort and emphasize only those aspects they wanted people to hear. But what is new is that our own fans seem to be intent on doing the same thing to our coaches.

We should be talking about the first day of practice and instead we have an unsubstantiated and unsourced rumor dominating the talk on the boards. No one is above criticism but this has gotten completely out of hand. Kiffin could win the national title while developing a cure for cancer on the weekends and these guys would still bust his balls over something.

Yes! But: When AT&T works, it works pretty well. But the 3g coverage is still pretty sporadic...lots of hotels where you dont have a choice but to use their shitty wifi =p.

Cant wait 'till Apple's AT&T contract expires...

Uh oh. Zippy's trying to hijack this thread. ;)

Hey Voluble, I'm not in TN so I realize you've read a lot more articles and have undoubtably heard more spewage from Hiyams and Co. than I have, but I don't find this article to be all that bad. I mean the reporter could've talked about the dangers of heatstroke you know :P

As for Huey I'm gonna go look for that. Sounds classic. Which one of you guys gave him hell?

At the risk of ruining a thread I'll just say the hubby has a bold. We have Internet speed battles all the time. He's yet to win even one. I know, but ask him. I've sold him on this horible thing to. I really wanted it to suck too...

I'm able to hook my crackberry to my laptop and get internet service and the speed really isn't too bad. I've got verizon, so I'm very seldom in an area where I don't have service...it's just ten bucks a month extra (I don't have to pay for it out of my pocket anyway).......

I can't second guess Fulmer Recruits from the 95 - 2002. We had a most incredible bunch of athletes during that stretch. If we had a better coach, we would have won MULTIPLE national titles.

From that point on however, I think we got lazy and started counting stars instead of doing our homework. To make matters worse, we didn't coach them very well. To make matters even moreworse, we didn't maintain any level discipline and therefor lost a bunch of players after their fourth or fifth strike....(fulmer must not have played baseball).......

I and others have been predicting The Philistines have not gone away, but are just sitting there with baited breath ready to attack Kiffin for any little fart. It will never cease to amaze me how a weird subsection of our fanbase just went off the deepend in their adoration of Fulmer. From EVERY single first hand account I know of, the report on Phildo is that he is one of the more insecure individuals around but ALSO one of the more egotistical individuals around which is a bad combination. He then dissed the everyday fan as "not being a coach" and he even dissed the common fans at these Big Orange Golf outings by stiffing them on several occasions. But he cuddled up to the very wealthy donars and to influental BOT members just like a scuzzy Politician would.

I HATE the guy with a passion but for some bizarre reason we have fans who literally worship the ground he walks on. UT has, by far, the WORST fan base in the south and they are attacking a young aggressive UT HC, mainly because he was the one who took over for Knoxville Phil.
