We are at almost 6 months until national signing day. A lot will transpire and change during that time. You have to like what we are seeing and hearing thus far on the recruiting front. If we can sign a trio of WRs like Matt Milton, Markeith Ambles, and Kyle Parter, the Vols WR needs will be in solid hands for a few years. QBs will be begging to come to play at Tennessee. Think about it....in just 7-8 months on the job, Lane Kiffin has changed the attitude of the players. They have bought into the system. The coaching staff was able to land the top ranked running back and overall recruit in the nation, Bryce Brown, in his first recruiting class, has the top ranked high school kicker committed, and is working on recruiting the top ranked wide receiver in the nation. Let the media and other fans laugh and ridicule all they want. We will have the last laugh. Trust me, the other coaches around the country are not laughing. They know that UT football program is about to rise from the ashes. |

If all Kiff were doing was making outrageous comments, there'd be need for concern. But he has: 1. Hired an excellent staff. 2. Put in schemes the players like. 3. Showed he's got the player's back, which has motivated them. 4. Further motivated them by ditching the "seniority system". 5. Recruited "like heck". ;) 6. Changed the emphasis in the S&C program for the linemen to stress speed and explosion over bulk. 7. Injected some drive and energy and set standards for the work ethic. Set demands, not leaving it up to the players to motivate themselves. Yeah, he's done things that one could consider marketing or publicity ploys. But he's also made some solid football decisions. |

There were a lot of hurdles for Kiffin to overcome when he came on board. He was a one man band at first having to recruit and interview potential assistants all by himself. He passed that test with flying colors. It is nothing short of phenomenal what he did on those fronts in very little time. Next he had to change the culture and cut the deadwood. He did that and took the publicity hits for doing so. He got us back on the front page of the sports magazines and on the lips of the top recruits. We couldn't sniff a DT for 2-3 years and we have 4 lined up already in this class with one in the next class already committed. I suspect we are turning a few away right now. Really, all that remains to be seen is what we do on game day. Has our discipline improved on the field as well as the classroom? Has our conditioning been improved? How do our schemes work and how do we make adjustments during the course of the game? We will truly know what we have after we get a few games under our belts but to this point I gotta give the guy an "A". And I wasn't happy at all when we first picked Kiffin. He has won me over thus far and has even built up a little equity in the mental piggy bank I keep for rainy days. Edited by VOLUBLE, Aug 2 2009, 03:39 PM.

Kiffin is going about it the right way and thats the matter of fact way and fuckyou if you don't like my approach. Kiffin is well aware of whats at stake for him, fell here and he may never get another headcoaching job, if he wins we will have trouble keeping him. I personally prefer he wins and we have to fightoff other schools that may come calling! TA. |

He certainly gets an A+ from me so far. I would give an A++ if he had already benched Crompton. Somebody said Crompton hired this guy to help his throwing motion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7deV22aWESc&feature=related |

You forgot two other key things: 1) No arrest since Kiffin was hired. Compare this to The Fulmer Cup being named for our ex HC. 2) Best classroom GPA in the recent Spring Semester in YEARS. |
