Your Feelings On The KNS's John Adams?

DBTR Discusses The Knoxville News Sentinel's John Adams

I was reading the DBTR Blog and their story about the varying opinions of KNS Sports Editor, John Adams.

I have always been of the opinion that Adams is fair and writes about what he sees as being true and honest.

Many of the UT faithful have held less than stellar opinions of Adams because he did just that...write about the truth of the state of the University of Tennessee program.

He caught a lot of grief about that and was in fact the first state newspaper columnist to call for Fulmer to resign. Adams recognized that the Emperor had no clothes on. Of course, John Adams was vindicated. Still., as the DBTR Blog points out, there are a group of Fulmersexuals who want revenge on John Adams and Mike Hamilton for pushing Fulmer off of the plank.

Frankly, I don't give two shits if Adams earned his degree from LSU or Timbuktu U. His columns are truthful even when they are controversial.

I've always liked Adams' work in the News-Sentinel. He's not afraid to take on tough issues like so much of the Knoxville media is.

Most who don't like Adams don't really understand his role with the News-Sentinel. They say he doesn't "report" both sides of the issue. What most don't seem to understand is that Adams is a columnist, not a reporter. His job is not to report things, but to write an opinion based column. His job is to illicit discussion and comment, and he does that very well.

Burning Man, 2009 FOREVER

I live in Alabama, so I get a heavy dose of Finebaum and the Scarbinskys of the world.

In comparison, I'd much rather have Adams. I actually kinda like him.

The Fulmersexuals hated Adams because, like many knowledgable fans, he saw the program deteriorating. He also had the balls to go after Fat Pa over all the arrests, flunk outs, drug heads and malingerers. I can recall him trying to do something positive at times, even over the past five years, but the man calls it like he sees it and for that he was hated by Phillipinoes everywhere.

He refused to carry water for Fulmer at a time when it was politically dangerous to do so, for that I am in his corner. However, I do not think he is a particularly talented sportswriter, nothing captivating he is not bad but he is not Jim Murray either. He is in Clk's corner, so thats a plus. There are not many great sportswriter in Knoxville or Nashville, but ihear there is great one in west TN. ;)

Thanks Galla, that wonderful compliment and a dollar will get me a Jr. double stack at Wendy's, uh, plus tax of course. Seriously, I am trying to break through somewhere, but it's tough out there right now.

Is he the sultan of syntax? Nope.

But I will give him a lifetime pass for standing up and calling bullshit on the Fulmer regime, though.
