The adidas adizero XT 5 was Adidas Originals France Soldes a pleasant surprise for me. I¡¯d not seen much info about it until it just recently popped up on adidas¡¯ website, and after looking it over I decided it was worth a try.I had some previous experience with the adidas XT 3 and 4, but both of those shoes were much more substantial with deep lugged outsoles. They were also quite heavy (10+ oz.). With the XT 5, adidas stripped the shoe back (315 g in my size 13 which is usually around 8.5-9 oz in a size 9) and created a shoe that is essentially a trail version of the old pre-Boost adios 2 with a few key differences. Read on to find out if this is a good thing (hint: yep it is!). Overall ConclusionsAside from a little refinement in the upper design and the midsole arch, the adizero XT 5 is really the type of trail shoe I¡¯m looking for, would love to see more of, and I don't understand why more companies don¡¯t put out shoes like it. Take a marathon racing shoe geometry, add a very small amount Adidas Originals Pas Cher of increased upper security (very small¡too many overbuilt uppers), especially on the lateral forefoot, and put a full coverage, but low profile black rubber outsole on it. For 80% of my trail running this is the type of shoe I want and suggest to most of the brands and shoe designers I¡¯ve talked with. A few weeks ago I wrote a post introducing adidas¡¯ ¡°natural running¡± adipure line of shoes, and included some thoughts on the adipure Adapt, which looks and feels pretty much like a water sock. I liked the feel of the Adapt, but from an aesthetic standpoint it was severely lacking. However, I had high hopes for the other two shoes in the adipure line: the adidas adipure Gazelle in particular looked like my kind of shoe. Last week adidas sent me a pair of the Gazelles to try out(disclosure: these were free samples for review purposes), and my overall experience so far has been phenomenal. If I have one complaint about the shoe, it¡¯s that I can feel the stitching that attaches the stripes to the upper under my arch on one side. I was initially really concerned that this would dig into my skin and either rub it raw or cause a blister. However, it has not been an issue on the run, and it would be fairly easy to remove the offending stitch row without compromising the structure of the shoe. As I mentioned above, the sole of the Gazelle feels very similar to that of the Adapt. Sole dimensions listed on Running Warehouse are 17mm heel, 11mm forefoot, and overall shoe weight for my size 10 is about 6oz (measured on my scale). As fo Adidas Originals Femme France r the sole, the Hagio midsole is very firm and fairly stiff. Usually that¡¯s a combination that turns me off, but for some reason in this shoe the combination just seems to work perfectly. The manufacturer specs for stack heights are 23mm heel, 17mm forefoot (midsole only = 16mm heel, 9mm forefoot), but the shoe honestly feels flatter than that to me, and the shoe never seems to get in the way on the run. Because of the firmness of the sole, ground feel is quite good, and the grippy outsol Adidas Originals Femme Pas Cher e pattern under the forefoot works great out on the roads. |
