State Del. Bob Marshall (R-VA) declared last week that an increased number of disabled children are a punishment from nature, taking "vengeance" for prior abortions by their mothers. "The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children," Marshall said at a press conference on Thursday, calling for an end to state funding of Planned Parenthood, the Capital News Service reports. "In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord," Marshall added. "There's a special punishment Christians would suggest." Marshall, a staunch social conservative, has introduced the same bill every year to defund Planned Parenthood. Abortion is his key issue and he has been known to use graphic language when discussing the issue, including carrying around plastic fetuses to show the phases of pregnancy. He has also opposed the birth control pill, calling it "tiny abortions." Most of Marshall's bills had companion Senate legislation. Ken Cuccinelli, now the state's attorney general, was often the sponsor of those bills in the Senate when he served as a legislator. During one legislative session about five years ago, Marshall proposed a budget amendment that said no university receiving state funds could offer "sex teaching," relating to human sexuality courses and extracurricular activities similar to the SexFest 2003 at James Madison University, which he had protested. "If you have to put the word dildo in the budget to get some attention, then do it," he said when introducing the measure. |

Bruce: This comment is so DISGUSTING that it goes far below your lefty mentality. Proving again that lefty logic does not make sense. It totally ignores possible heredity factors, and your understanding of the Bible is NIL. |

I don't often jump into the fray, especially when it comes to religion, but in this case your comment is way off the mark: what makes 'Christians'-the definition of which btw is as varied as there are species of insects- so arrogant to say that they and only they hold the key to understand that compilation of tales in a volume tagged "The Holy Bible". Cripes! When it comes to moral guidance there is just as much to be found in Grimm's' Fairy Tales as there is in that book, especially the first part, referred to as the "Old Testament". There are more twisted interpretations emanating from that book than you can shake a stick at and it never ceases to amaze me how someone who professes to be erudite and calls him/herself "Reverend" can spout all of this crap without blinking an eye! This is the LAST time I will become embroiled in a religious argument on these pages: We have a rule in Lodge [AF&AM] that religious/political topic cannot even brought to the floor in the ante-room of the building as such would disturb the harmony of the lodge and thus the brethren! So mote it be! |

I couldn't agree more with the above quote! But please don't let this be your last comment on the subject. I know what you mean though, but there are others that feel exactly the same way.... and it's nice to hear that they (me) are not alone!

The point is, this is a direct quote from an elected right wing member of the Republican party in the USA in the State of Delaware, I didn't make this up. Beancounter says it is rediculous, yet that is the party in the US that he supports and wants Obama to fail as the president. With idiots like this guy in power, Obama is the least of beancounters fears. |
