Kentucky Governor Nixes 'Holiday' Tree for 'Christmas' Tree

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

AP

FRANKFORT, Ky. —
A spokeswoman for Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear says he's calling the tree on the Capitol's front lawn a "Christmas" tree this holiday season.

A statement from the administration last week sparked Christmas consternation by referring to the yet-to-be-chosen evergreen as a "holiday" tree. Some Christians were perturbed by the terminology.

Spokeswoman Kerri Richardson says the administration received a steady stream of e-mails and phone calls about the "holiday" tree. She says it's always been a Christmas tree to the governor, and it will be this year, too.

The governor is inviting critics of the "Christmas" tree to a lighting ceremony Nov. 30.

Thank goodness for someone with the 'stones' to not let the P.C. crowd influence him.
Gosh I'm getting tired of this crap.

Another one who "saw the light."
Reminds me when the PC crowd wanted to call the Christmas tree in Toronto a "holiday tree." Mel Lastman nixed that one in a flash, and as a Jew he could.
He may have had his faults, (who does'nt) but he was WAY AHEAD of that twit they have now. (David Miller). I knew he was a disaster even before he was elected, but Toronto voters manage to get it wrong most of the time!

Hi, Y'all ~

As a fundamentalist Christian, I can assure you that my faith would do as well, if not better, without the pagan symbol of a decorated tree to commemorate that Roman Catholic myth called Christmas. More to the point, Jer. 10:2-5 prohibits the children of God from following such practices. Maybe Judeo-Christians enjoy opposing the Will of God, but true Christians, such as myself, know to never tempt the Lord our God.

Amen!
