xray: Funny, but whgo is Iggy; indeed, for that matter, who is Harper? I guess being the recluse that I am, I am at a disadvantage when it comes to knowing such deep and meaningful things as who are Harper & Iggy? Clue me in, okay? RO |

The "Honourable Stephen Harper" leader of the Tory Party i.e. Conservatives, presently Prime Minister of Canada (albeit with a shaky minority government. Iggy: Mr. Ignatieff, (Yale Professor Emeritus) leader of the Grits i.e. Liberals, the at present major opposition party in Parliament, together with the Bloc Quebecois, the New Democrats- who if they had the will, together with the liberals, would be able to wrest control of the government from Mr. Harper, but it ain't likely to happen, as the New Democrats, under the leadership of "Gentleman Jack" Layton, are un-officially siding with the Conservatives right now to ensure that the current session of Parliament remains viable. Canadian Politics "dull"? -I think NOT!

jabs: Okay, it's Canadian politics. I have a hard enough time dealing with US politics without commenting. on such matters in other nations. Still, thanks for the cue in. RO |

RO, You are excused. From experience we know that once you get out of Canada, it is impossible to get Canadian news. For your education: Conservatives are somewhat like Republicans. Liberals are somewhat like Democrats. NDP (Now (50 years old!) Democratic Party) are socialists. Bloc Quebecois are in Quebec only- a bunch of traitors who are only interested in Quebec, and don't give a D... about Canada. Hope this helps. Latest news: Giles Duceppe (Leader of the Bloc) refused to have dinner with (British) Prince Charles who is visiting Canada. Why am I not surprised? Frankly, I have no use for either of them. |
