The only thing left was my 'Hosts' file and sure enough when I searched for Bravenet I got about 30 listings (meaning they really don't like Bravenet for some reason). I deleted all of the entries, I'm now able to navigate to the site.

Of all the forums that I have been to, the ones hosted by Bravenet are the least friendly to the posters; press the wrong button and your entire message is cast into an electronic purgatory from which it never returns. I had hoped that Bravenet had changed its evil ways when I posted to gerard's new forum, but when I lost a message I realized my hopes were in vain. Even though I wish gerard the best of luck, he evidently does share my dim view of Bravenet. Oh, well, such is life. RO
