Have never taken a liken to Pearsons liberal rag -- Its not the flag I fought under -- It reminds me of metric system and all the things we had to do to hand over the country to Quebec -- they rule the civil service and get more than their share of the treasury through their francophonie Capers -- most Canadians don't even know what the Francophonie stands for-- we pay for a conglamorate of french speaking nations with its own flag headquarters and world wide radio and TV station etc etc--- Do a search on the word and get an eyefull -- I wont even attempt to hazard a guess of what biingualism costs us Probably the cost of two health care systems -- and they all wonder why our taxes are so high -- Its a case study like our rothchild controlled fiat monetary system aye, the Fewer know the better? aye er eh?   :bgrin: :bgrin:

Aside from Sweets' remarks, I AM PROUD today to fly the Canadian Flag which was draped over my beloved son's coffin 21 years ago. He died while in the service of his native and my adopted country and I am busier than hell today with all the volunteer work to celebrate the birthday of our nation: There is a popular pop song in Germany which opens with: " So schön wie Kanada ist kein andre's Land" tx'd: "There is no more beautyful country other than Canada"
so

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA"

Hi, Y'all ~

I hope you Canadians enjoyed celebrating the anniversary of your nation's birth day. We Americans will be doing the same thing come this July 4th. Do y'all celebrate your day like we Americans do; you know, bar-be-ques, family get togethers, getting really drunk?

Again, best wishes.

There is a lot of truth in what all of you are saying.
But to keep it simple, I believe that the red banners on the flag should be BLUE.
Signifying "From Coast to Coast" or: from the Atlantic to the Pacific."

Why is it red? Purely political, the Liberal color is red, the Conservative color is blue.
And Pearson was Liberal. Case closed.
(In the U.S. is is just the other way around: Democrats are Blue and Republicans are red. Maybe RO has an explanation for that?)

I flew this flag ( the latest version) proudly on my flagpole for many years. It was the flag that Canadian troops fought under during WW 1 and WW 2 (not forgetting Korea).

Our current flag is strictly political, and was put in place for political reasons (to make the French happy). The colours are Liberal red... as Beans said.

A couple of years ago I switched to the 'official' flag as our troops are now fighting under it, and it was time to let the old one go.

My wife and I had a great day yesterday. We went strawberry picking in the morning, then went to town to watch the annual parade. Afterward, it was to the Park for a BBQ and to hear speeches, etc. A good friend of mine was given the senior citizen of the year award. She was very surprised... and deserving of the honour.
When it got dark, we drove back to town for the fireworks, which was a great show.
:fwks:

A busy day, but fun.

I haven't a clue as to why Demopublicans are colored blue while Republocrats are colored red. For myself, ReallyOrnery is a Proud American Dissident who no longer buys into the bi-polar political circus that is laughingly referred to as American politics. If I had to choose a color for people such as myself, it would be the color of a copper-jacketed bullet. :bgrin:
