Okay, im going to be dishing out everything I learn about the hunter class. I do not think of myself as some hunter buff, but I was surprised to find such a lack of info on how to play this class floating around the net. So I am going to rattle off about the stuff I do know. First off lets talk about kiting. Kiting is simple enough. Its just moving while attacking, as far as I know. Now I have seen two "ways" to kite, the first is to attack, run, then attack again. This is what I do, I will be explaining how exactly to do that later. The second is somewhat odd, and as far as I can tell, seems like a glitch, some hunters can move backwards while attacking. Now, to normal kite it is as simple as attacking your target, and then after your attack animation starts, clicking on the ground somewhere away from where you are standing right now, then after moving out of close combat with your enemy, start another attack. I have one helpful hint , most people attack by double clicking, to kite well you HAVE to set the attack action as a hot key and then hit the corresponding number key. This helps because you wont have to be as crazy with your mouse. The second way to kite is to simply attack, then push forward, in a direction away from your oppenant, then attack again. You have to be facing away from your oppenant for this to work (quick tip, clicking the mouse wheel gives your view a 180) ALSO, if you do a skill, then click a space on the ground RIGHT afterwards, your character will move while doing the skill, but you have to click the ground before the startup animation starts. This does not work with a normal attack, clicking the ground will end the attack unless you have already started you attack animation. why kite? Well the basic reason is to increase your attack, most of you should know, rangers lose A LOT of attack power when they are fighting up close. Up close as far as I can tell means touching your enemy. There are a few other minor reasons, for instance, you can get in a few extra free attacks by using a slow or stop debuff and then kiting. If you do not kite, you might as well not use the stop debuff. It also slows down the rate at which you take damage by forcing your enemy to chase you, this makes it easy for oracles to heal you. One important note, make sure not too flee to far from a mobs spawning point, as the mob will turn back around and refill his health. Im sure that wasn't confusing at all. Luck vs Str First off, lets point this out, hunters get +1 luck every level.... So, what does luck do? Well it increase your attack, slightly, I think this is the ratio 1 str point = 1 damage 3 luck points = 1 damage 5 dex points = 1 damage so if your trying to increase your normal damage, luck is not the way to go. On the other hand luck does increase your critical rate, AND your critical damage. What I have been told, which is random info found on the game's forum. A critical does your normal attack damage times a certain amount depending on how much luck you have. If you go with luck, your going to have a tough time till you get around 150 luck. At 180 luck your crit about half the time. You wont be doing as much damage with your crits till you get some base damage from str. But I would still say go all luck till you get to about 400 luck, at 400 luck you crit about 80% of the time. After that str is going to be better for you. Dex is useless in a luck build, crits cant be dodged. ------------------------ Damage stuff I have subdivided damage into two groups, Skills or points that say just "physical" should increase both your normal and critical ax damage Skills or points that say just "bow" should increase both your normal and critical "bow" damage anything that says it increase your overall damage SHOULD increase ALL damage types, although I am not sure on this. In fact on sure on any of the above, I would love to test it out but I do not want to kill my character. Maybe if I spend the money in the item store I might test some stuff. -------------------------- Skills that do a set amount of damage (such as nailed shot) do that damage even if your are standing next to your target. So do that if your up close and need to finish the deal. Edited by Seigan, Mar 30 2008, 08:05:42 PM.

60 x 6 = 360 So you have to get another 40 from your equips, which is not "that" hard to do. Or you could stick around assassins.... they have a + 45 luck buff. hmm, but the best way to go with a NM is to not be a hunter. Be something that levels fast (pagan, oracle, guardian) so you can make your way to hard mode.... |

You have to have Dex as a Sin/Hunter. Example: You go full Luc now that leaves you with no Evasion and a sitting duck.. Most ppl will 2 shot you. For NM I suggest STR Build, Yes the 1 Luc ea lvl will be wasted But, You go full Luc and lapis your gear out with Luc you wont have any Evasion, Def, HP, Magic Resit, or STR. Very slow to lvl. If you did go full Luc I would suggest Lapis with DEX & REC lvl 3-4 only. and sacrifice that 10-15% crit rate. What I learned playing the two classes is one Build is the same for both classes. Oh, never lapis weapons with Assualt lapis is much better to lapis with STR or LUC, Depending on your Build. |
