Carey case adjourned

May 22, 2008 10:13am
Article from: AAP

A COURT hearing scheduled today for former AFL star Wayne Carey over an incident at his luxury Melbourne apartment has been adjourned.

Carey, 36, is charged with three counts of assaulting police and three of resisting arrest following the incident at his Port Melbourne apartment on January 27.

He allegedly assaulted police at his front door and was subdued with capsicum spray after a struggle with officers.

Police were called to a report of a domestic dispute at the apartment, which the former North Melbourne captain shared with girlfriend Kate Neilson.

Carey was due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today for a mention hearing, but the case was adjourned at the court's front counter until June 30.

Neither he nor his lawyers was required to make an appearance today.

Carey also faces two felony charges in the United States of aggravated batter of a police officer and a count of resisting arrest with violence after an incident at a Miami hotel.

Carey is due to reappear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 30 for a mention hearing.
