Steven Spielberg working on Electronic Arts titles July 18, 2007 08:51am Article from: The Daily Telegraph IF EVER there was an endorsement to confirm gaming can now be considered as mainstream leisure entertainment, it has come from Academy Award-winning film director Steven Spielberg. Spielberg announced he is working with gaming developer Electronic Arts on three original properties which are expected to be released in 2008. "I am a gamer and game development has always intrigued me," Spielberg says. "Now I've been able to jump in and do it, enjoying the creative collaboration with the EA team on our first two games and I feel we have two incredibly unique projects in development. "I am truly enjoying the creative collaboration and we hope gamers will be as excited as we are about what we can bring to the medium through our shared vision." EA has released details of two of the three as yet unnamed games. The first is an exclusive for Nintendo's Wii platform, which is a challenging puzzle game that features hundreds of interactive levels. Next is a more ambitious project for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC; an action-adventure that puts the player at the centre of an epic story and an ever-changing relationship with a mysterious female character. Electronic Arts general manager Neil Young says Spielberg's vision as a storyteller will make the partnership a valuable experience. "Through our partnership we are delivering games that are not only engaging and compelling with interactivity, but we hope can also move people emotionally," Young says. |
