No Money Left Like this missionary, Manohar serves in Bihar, India. Exhausted, Gospel for Asia missionary Manohar stood in a city far from his home with his wife, Sarita, who was dying. He had managed to get her to a hospital, but there was no money left for treatment. Manohar serves God in a remote village with no medical facilities. When his wife started suffering from a horrible fever, Manohar and two believers from his village carried her nine miles to the hospital. She was admitted but took a turn for the worse during the night. Doctors said they could no longer treat her there. So Manohar used the last of his money for a taxi to go to the larger city hospital. But no money left meant no treatment. Watching his wife fading away in his arms, Manohar remembered meeting a pastor named Kumar who served in that city. He took Sarita to Kumar's church and told him the story. Hearing of this, Kumar called some of the Christians in his town, and they all prayed with Manohar for Sarita. Right there, God healed her. It was a great encouragement to all the believers who had gathered to pray. And Manohar was overjoyed that his wife was well. Manohar asks for prayer that his wife's testimony will encourage many to trust Jesus. Pray also for blessings on the ministry of both Manohar and Kuma http://www.gfa.org/no-money-left?cm_mmc=GFA-_-Email-_-377991-_-081230-tues-drkp |

Dear Friend in Christ, Think about a day when you walked a considerable distance . . . maybe during a tour of a large zoo, or simply a day of exploring a tourist town by foot. I wonder if your legs ached from your travels that day! A group of Gospel for Asia missionaries traveled long distances, too—two weeks spreading the hope of Jesus. Thankfully, they did not make this long journey by foot! View a PhotoShow that shows how this special bicycle rally touched lives for eternity. http://www.gfa.org/tracts-for-shepherds-slum-dwellers-and-truck-drivers?cm_mmc=GFA-_-Email-_-377991-_-090113-tues-from-drkp Thank you for your prayers for GFA missionaries as they routinely travel great distances to share Christ's hope and disciple new believers. Please lift them up today, that the Lord will bless their travels and work through them mightily. Yours for the unreached, K.P. Yohannan Founder & President |

01/20/2009: A New Song in His Heart A New Song in His Heart Tanvir was drawn to the Savior through music, and now he's filled with a new song in his heart. As a child, Tanvir had to drop out of school and grow up far too quickly. His family depended on it. But today, this young man is a Gospel for Asia missionary who has a joyous song in his heart—and a church of believers he leads in weekly worship and teaching. Tanvir grew up in a remote village in Andhra Pradesh as the second oldest of four children. Both his father and older brother worked for their landlord, and his mother worked as a day laborer. Yet for all their hard work, their meager earnings were barely enough for the family to get by. And things got even harder. When Tanvir was in fourth grade, his father fell off a roof, injuring himself so badly he could no longer work. This left the family in even greater financial struggles. Tanvir dropped out of school and got a job tending to buffalo. He worked around the house from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day, then took care of the buffalo the rest of the day. Over the course of a few years, he worked for various people, tending to animals. He was very interested in singing, and while doing his work, he would sing. Tanvir came from a Christian home but rarely attended church. One of the few times he went, Tanvir heard a song talking about how important it is to know Jesus while there is still time—because life is uncertain. Even though he didn't really understand what the song meant, Tanvir really liked the tune. So he started singing this song. Then Tanvir started going to church just to hear the songs. When he started attending regularly, friends and neighbors mocked him and tried to entice him away from church, telling him that he could not "enjoy life" if he lived as a Christian. But God had a strong hold on Tanvir and protected him from these temptations. Hearing the Scriptures taught at church, Tanvir was drawn to a vibrant relationship with Jesus and soon testified publicly that he had put his faith in Him. When his pastor shared from Jeremiah 1, Tanvir sensed God speaking directly to his heart and calling him to serve Him in full-time ministry. Tanvir yearned to serve the Lord. But he had never finished school and had already been out for four years. He could not read or write properly. He also was expected to keep working to provide for his family. Eight Gospel for Asia missionaries have new wheels, and they are all thrilled with their new method of transportation. Their bicycles get them from place to place much faster than walking along the dusty, dirt roads in Rajasthan, India http://www.gfa.org/new-wheels-for-rajasthan-missionaries?cm_mmc=GFA-_-Email-_-377991-_-New-Wheels-Bicycles How amazing is it that a simple bicycle can multiply the miles traveled for these who bring the Good News! Dear Friend in Christ, Have you ever had the experience of being let down by something or someone? If you have, you can definitely relate to Lali! Lali worshipped a goddess . . . and it appeared to be bringing about good things in her life. But in the end, Lali and her family were left only with sickness and despair Thank you for your soft heart to pray on behalf of those like Lali in Asia. The Lord is using your prayers. Yours for the lost, K.P. Yohannan http://www.gfa.org/goddess-worshiper-finds-prince-of-peace?cm_mmc=GFA-_-Email-_-377991-_-090203-tues-html Goddess Worshiper Finds Prince of Peace Thinking her religion had given her what she most longed for, Lali ardently worshipped a goddess. But the woman living in Andhra Pradesh, India, would soon find that it brought her anything but peace. Lali had a difficult life from an early age. Her mother passed away when she was a child, leaving her to be raised by her stepmother. No one cared for Lali, and she grew up much like an orphan. She married very young to a man who owned a delivery truck and tractors and made good money. For a brief moment, Lali may have thought she was getting a good break in life. But she began to face rejection again—this time from her in-laws. No one cared for Lali, and she grew up much like an orphan. Lali seemed unable to bear children, and in India's culture, this is a shameful situation and brings scorn upon a woman. One day, her husband's family took her to see a witch doctor. After the woman performed witchcraft on Lali, she became pregnant and had children. It may seem Lali's hopes and dreams were answered, but then the witchcraft began to manifest itself in other forms. Around this time, Lali began to engage heavily in idol worship and started acting like the goddess Ellamma. Lali became possessed by an evil spirit, and people in her village began worshipping her as the human representative of Ellamma. That was when hope reached them . . . through a Christian in a local church led by Tanvir, a Gospel for Asia missionary. And other things were going on. The family lost peace and began to lose their belongings—such as their truck and tractors—and even their land. Their physical bodies were attacked as well. Every day, someone in the family was sick. Lali suffered from stomach pain. Finally, it became clear that the witch doctor had done something against their family—and that she even had a relationship with Lali's husband. The family seemed helpless to climb out of their dark pit. That was when hope reached them . . . through a Christian in a local church led by Tanvir, a Gospel for Asia missionary. The believer visited Lali's family and listened as she shared their struggles. Then the Christian shared the Gospel with Lali and invited her to church. When Lali came to church one day, GFA missionary Tanvir shared more about Jesus. Lali began to believe in Jesus and attend the church regularly. She started praying to Jesus. Within three months, Lali was healed completely of her stomach pain. She was also encouraged to see changes in the family and found her trust in Jesus strengthened. Lali even opened her home for a prayer meeting. However, her husband asked her not to host any more prayer meetings there. But he did give Lali permission to keep attending church, since Jesus had healed her—and even instructed all the relatives not to say anything against his wife's new faith. Today Lali is an active believer in Jesus, worshipping with other Christians at the church led by Tanvir. Pray she will continue to grow in her faith—and for the salvation of her husband and family. |

Across South Asia, thousands of people heard the Christmas story for the first time last year. Gospel for Asia workers wanted the celebration of Jesus' birth to touch their neighbors, even those who didn't know Him yet. See how they brought Christmas to their communities. http://www.gfa.org/cultural-christmas-outreach?cm_mmc=GFA-_-Email-_-377991-_-090217-tues-final This is just one more example of the ways people are hearing about Jesus. Thank you for being a part of God's work in Asia through GFA. Yours for the unreached, K.P. Yohannan Founder & President |
