I've fallen in love with this game. I heard of Mirror's Edge from a thread in the Eidos Forums, so I decided to check it out. WOW. I'm definitely going to buy this. To sum up all I know of the game, it's in first person perceptive, and the only playable character is a girl named Faith. When her parents died, she and her sister became runners - couriers that send messages amongst the underground via rooftops and skyscrapers, skilled in Parkour (ninja-like movement and fighting). The story is set in a clean, spotless city, but the Government is controlling, and the citizens prefer security to freedom. Usually runners are left alone - until a crime is committed, and Faith's sister is falsely accused. Now Faith is being hunted. This game combines all of my favourite things - cities, rooftops, ninjas, comic-like and hero qualities, playing as a girl ( ), beautiful music and guns, although you don't actually need them.If you want some more information, Wikipedia is a great place to look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror%27s_Edge And the trailers: Trailer 2nd Part of Trailer An awesome animated comic trailer EDIT: Also this animated story of Faith. And some screenshots: http://www.pcguru.hu/pcguru/img/galery/2189_Mirror_s_Edge_23.jpg http://www.ps3welt.com/wp-content/gallery/mirrors_edge/mirrors-edge-20080115102322417.jpg http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1725/mirrorsedgetw2.jpg http://www.gamecyte.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/faith-mirrors-edge-250.png http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/images/gallery/9/2008/03/medium_2325766696_a852631c54_o.jpg And if you loved the song as much as I did, here is the original (the theme is a remix of this) for your downloadable pleasure: Shine - Alcorus I don't know about you, but I'm buying this. On the strength of playing the 360 version of the game (a friend has it), I'm desperate for the PC version to be released. It's just a shame it's sooo short, barely 5 hours it took to finish. |

I have heard that, and it's a shame. But from the reviews I've read and gamers opinions, this game is brilliant and well-worth it. |

But despite its brevity, what's there is pure A-grade quality. It's just fantastic to play. |

What would be the best part about the game? Story, character, gameplay, environments? And give us the worst while you're at it.

The gameplay and environments are definitely the game's strongest point. I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it, but it's just so exhilarating. The controls are a little clunky at first, but I put that down to my dislike of the Xbox's hideous pads, but once you learn the upper and lower body control layout it's just sooo intuitive. Worst aspect for me? The combat. It's awful, feels totally crowbarred in. The idea is to avoid confrontations, but there's places where it's completely unavoidable. And those situations completely ruin the flow because the combat is badly thought out. |

I'd imagine it would be too. I think it's the first person perspective that makes it more exhilarating - makes it feel like you're the one running around the rooftops, and because they're so real looking, it affects it even more so. I remember wanting to leap out of my seat whenever she got to a large jump on the trailers. I'm not a fan of the Xbox's controllers myself. I thought that the moves being only down by pushing the two buttons would be a low point, but according to other gamers it isn't at all. The combat, since there is so little, I'd never imagined to be very flash, although it does look good in the trailer. But no worries - there's hardly any.

The first-person perspective is ABSOLUTELY the key to why the game is so adrenaline driven. If it'd been third-person you'd be instantly detached from the gameplay and reduced to more of a spectator. And you're so right about the tension the game brings forth when you make some of those crazy jumps. They really make you hold your breath. |

I also think what makes the game great is Faith. She's pretty, but not stunningly sex appeal-ish, she wears normal clothing, she's not overly large in any particular area - she's so normal, and I noticed that that in itself appealed to a lot of people. The game doesn't use sex appeal to get people to play. |

Faith is surprisingly normal, and that's a breath of fresh air which is in keeping with the rest of the game. Although she's got a bit of a clichéd gritty attitude at times. |

I finished this game yesterday and I loved every minute of it. Is it just me? Or is Faith really pretty? |
