Well I'd say Anniversary, but then again I've never played the original. Call me biased if you will.

I've played the first level of the original... that was after a struggle to get it working on XP. I had to turn all (but one) of the settings up to max., and I think it's still running a little bit too fast. But I enjoyed what I played. ![]() I hope to play the rest of TR1 later. |

Well apart from the fact they're the same story (duh! ), I think the two games both have different things going for them that make them good. TR1 was so vibrant, such glorious (if slightly child- like) colouring to it. The first time I played I didn't have a clue where to go or what to do. There was definitely more scope for exploration. In saying that, if I am lost for too long, I can get bored. Although I thought Midas Palace was amazing to explore and look at, I got bored too after a few days wondering aimlessly. Anniversary in contrast had slightly watered down colouring. CD were obviously going for a more realistic look, but a bit more colour wouldn't have hurt I think. The atmospheric noises in TRA were spine-tingling, all those whispers in Egypt ! The levels were more linear, but I am surprised now that going back over them after a break, I am discovering little hidey holes I didn't see before. The puzzles in both games are good, but I think TR1 over did the 'find key 'a' to find key 'b' bit'. TRA's puzzles had variety, but were easier to work out in a way purely because they were easier to 'find'. I'm sorry, I just have to use one of these, they're fab!

Oh I love the original music! I think the original TR is the best one in my opinion. TRA is great, but I doubt anything will beat the very first game of the best game series ever

The original. It was without a doubt harder. But TRA had it's moments. |

TRA brought the memories back (and with the adjustments, revisioned it). But TR1 definitely give me happy memories. In fact TR1 was practically an entire generation's worth of first time gaming experiences (in my family :), myself, my older brother, my cousins, even my dad & mom! :D) I would have to say TR1! Without Lara, I wouldn't be on this board right now, in fact I wouldn't be as interested in myths and playing other games without her!
