I was stunned when I first read the news, I really was. And of the hundreds and hundreds of comments I've seen about this (on TV & on the net) one thing has remained the same, everyone is simply stunned. And in that lays the truth to just how much Michael Jackson became a part of our lives. He was taken for granted, Michael Jackson was so well-known, so famous for his songs that he went beyond being just a singer. He became something we took for a fact, like a universal constant. Michael Jackson just was. Regardless of whether his music met your personal tastes or not it's impossible to deny that you'd have heard at least two or three of his songs. And now that part of our lives has suddenly gone. R.I.P |

Amen to that, my friend. I was practically listening to a marathon yesterday and now it's all silence today. ![]() Courtesy of Michael Jackson's official YouTube channel |

Like everyone else, I was in total shock when I read the news. I saw the MJ appreciation thread on TRF had been bumped but I just thought people must be just looking forward to the concert in July. Out of curiousity i took a peek and there it was, someone had posted he had died. No one can deny he was the ultimate pop icon of the 80s and early 90s. So many were inspired by him. His music videos were amazing. Wasn't he credited for changing the way music videos were made? I was listening to his music all day yesterday too. R.I.P Michael Jackson. My heart goes out to his children and family. Edited by Rai, Jun 27 2009, 08:07 PM.

Yeah. He was the biggest MV mogul in history. Loads of his vids end up going down in history, even the short ones. Thriller has an impressive movie format. No doubt about it! Smooth Criminal did a really awesome theme and the choreography's awesome. The storyline's awesome, too (if you wanna get the full gist of it, you'll have to look up the movie Moonwalker on YT). Even Bad and some of his shorter MVs have a special spot in his book. The music video he did with his sister Janet for the song Scream is known to be one of the most expensive MVs in the world. It cost over $7 million USD to produce it, including the anti-grav and text effects. The song's really powerful and the video's amazing, but I'm shocked that the true appreciation for it didn't appear for the MV until his demise. His voice was so raw in it! If you wanna see it, here it is. Truly a brother-sister piece of art. Also here's a portion of the movie, Moonwalker. I really love the dance-off scene (starting off at 7:10). He looks really impressive here with the clay figure and the ending's hilarious with the sign! If you want to see the Smooth Criminal sections of the movie, I think it should be around part 6 that the plot begins. EDIT: In case you're wondering about the song, it's called Speed Demon from the album Bad. Moonwalker goes from the Jackson 5 era to the Bad era. EDIT 2: I came across this article on IGN. I knew about the Moonwalker game and Space Channel 5, but I didn't know about the extras. There's a rumor about a MJ game in the works, but it's not been confirmed. It's not mentioned in the article so it may not be true. http://retro.ign.com/articles/998/998579p1.html Edited by Singstar90210, Jun 27 2009, 10:01 PM.
