It seems this is as official as it gets. Toby Gard has been appointed as Lead Designer and has started work with a team of people on the next Tomb Raider title. While the game hasn't been officially announced, the fact Crystal Dynamics is now solely working on the Tomb Raider IP is a bit of a give away. This information comes from Toby's personal page, updated by him, at LinkedIn.com.
To me it's encouraging news, it's the first ray of light regarding Tomb Raider's future. The person who gave birth to Lara Croft and was pretty much solely responsible for the original Tomb Raider has been given a leading role in TR9's development. Maybe all is not lost. Only time will tell... |
