Sooo, what's your favorite room in St.Francis Folly? Mines the 'Hammer Room' Calling it what I did when I was 6.

The sword room, umm what's it called again...? *Searches Stella's Walkthroughs* Ah! The Damocles room. ![]() I remember running around all over the place and screaming while in that room, trying to avoid the swords of doom. It was so scary (and it still is)!

Damocles was awesome in both TR1 and TRA. (Especially TRA! Stand in the middle for too long, WHAM!
)Thor and Atlas were good too. There was one room where it suddenly catches on fire. I think it's Poseidon. Flames, flames, and flaming platforms! Oh my! |

The fire room is actually in Palace Midas but I also love it. Also Poseidon's room is the correct name for TR1's Neptune room, Toby got muddled up with some of the Greek God's names. They also changed the Thor room into the Hephaestus room. |

Yeah, I noticed that. Toby did get mixed up with the names. Hephaestus is actually more appropriate for the theme because Thor is a Norse god. He isn't necessarily famed for a hammer, but he did a lot of metal forging. But Atlas remained Atlas.

Atlas was my favourite room in TR1's St. Francis Folly. A simple boulder trap. But it always kept me on my toes, still does today, what with the game's delightfully brutal save system. It always makes me hold my breath, running and jumping for that ledge and hoping Lara pulls her feet clear of the boulder. Imagine then how stunned I was when I was playing Anniversary with the commentary on, and I hear Toby Gard say you were actually supposed to run away from the boulder and drop into the pit to avoid it! What!!?? ![]() ![]() Anyway, for Anniversary I like the Poseidon room. I just like the water reflections on the walls

Fire in the hole!
I just love the flaming platforms and the amazing water effects! It was really impressive in TRA and the music fitted perfectly with the moment Lara stepped into each room!Agree with you there, Spong. Atlas looks so simple, but it keeps you on your toes! You could easily forget that there's a pit in your path and the size of it could get you side-tracked. I didn't notice that Toby made that mistake in the commentary! I may have to listen to it again! I think he meant that Lara could've jumped to the edge of the pit and hang onto it until the globe fell into it. Then again, I could be wrong! Takes a lot to make a game nowadays!

No, you're right. He said pretty much exactly that; that you're supposed to run to the pit and hang from the edge to let the boulder roll over the top of her. It's a much simpler option than running for the ledge that leads to the Atlas Key, but the thought of doing that never occurred to me once. I like the secrets in TR1's Folly, they're brilliant. There's the secret at the start where you jump across the pillars to that room with the ledges, slopes and collapsing floor. The secret at the bottom of the slope just before you reach the main folly room, it's a one-shot deal that, if you missed it on the PSOne, you had to do the entire start section of the level again (not like the easy-going, save anywhere PC version). Then there was the secret with the pressure pad & door at the bottom of the main folly room, that one was always a close call. Edited by Spong, Feb 10 2009, 04:54 PM.

I really loved some of the elaborate and unexpected shafts in St. Francis' Folly. I just liked the unique characteristics of each room. ![]() I've actually tried to do that once. If you get the timing of the jump just right, you should be able to grip onto the ledge with no problem. When she dies in this level, it is pretty funny. There's a really good blooper vid on YT. I think it's called Lara's Anniversary Deaths (not a very striking title). The user replaced some of the sound effects with TR1 effects. It was very interesting (and funny).

It's called Damocles. I think lots of people love that room. Anniversary just made it really interesting!
TR1's version was really good too!Warning - those who don't have a good reaction to suspense or have any heart problems should not watch this vid. Thank you. |
