I've only seen part of one episode of Dr. Who (the 2012 London Olympics episode). Even though I didn't catch a few parts, I liked it. The graphics really worked well with the episode too. It's not one of those space operas with lengthy speeches here and there. Dr. Who kept it pure and simple like the Outer Limits, the Twilight Zone, and Star Trek (I'm a sci-fi critic). I really liked the actor who played Dr. Who! He's impressive. I've seen him in a few British sitcoms. I agree with you on Tennant. He is cute!

*Goes all embarrassed* I'm also a fan of Dr.who; I grew up watching all the old episodes on UKTV Gold with my dad, so I watch the new episodes whenever I can. It's like a guilty pleasure. |

I'm a big big BIG Doctor Who fan (let's at least give it its proper title people, it's not "Dr Who"). I grew up watching Tom Baker & Peter Davison as the Doctor (1974 to 1984) and was overjoyed when the show was remounted by the BBC in 2005. I never thought it would see the light of day again after the truly awful Doctor Who TV movie in 1996 (in which Paul McGann played the Doctor). But, thank God, it was. I was cautious of Christopher Eccleston being the first new Doctor though because he'd been somewhat typecast for playing typically stern & dowdy northerners. But he portrayed the Doctor (with all his eccentricities) really well and I was kind of gutted when he announced he didn't want to do a second season. It caught the production off-guard as well, his unexpected resignation forced them to hurriedly re-film the last episode's closing scene and find a replacement. Luckily David Tennant was available. I've thoroughly enjoyed Tennant as the Doctor, even though three seasons of his running & shouting and gritted teeth expressions was starting to grate a little. He was really lively and kept up the pace in every episode. And he also had a knack of making the emotional scenes that little bit more emotional. But it's time to move on, there's only another 4 episodes of him as the Doctor left to go now, I guess they'll end with a Christmas special in which he'll regenerate into Matt Smith's Doctor. As for Matt Smith, the new Doctor, I've never heard of him. Apparently he's only had one other acting role, which is a bit unnerving, and he looked like an idiot in the single picture I've seen of him in the guise of the Doctor. Just have to wait until 2010 to see I guess. EDIT Tessa, your avatar represents the one moment of the final episodes of season four that really makes me cringe. The Judoon language is completely stupid and Russell T Davies should be shot for inventing it. Edited by Spong, Jan 7 2009, 08:20 PM.

There is nothing shameful about liking Doctor Who . I have been a fan since I was a little girl watching the likes of Tom Baker or Peter Davison (Google em, lol) fight off the daleks and other monsters. I was watching 'Voyage of the Damned' (one of the Xmas specials) just tonight with my son who is also a fan. I really like David Tennant's portrayal, he ranks as one of the best in my opinion. Although, for most, it is the one they grew up with who counts as a favourite. I have no idea who Matt Smith so I am very intrigued as to how he will fair as the next Doctor. He is really young though, so it could be interesting. I also want to know who the next companion is. First I hope to see some amazing 'special' episodes this year. From what I've read, Matt Smith has actually had quite a few good acting roles and I'm sure he will be a great doctor... but it seems that most fans have a different opinion, especially after reading BBC's "Have your say" section. O.O Christopher Eccleston is my favourite, and I have to admit that I (and my sister) was really upset when he left. ![]() |

I think the episode I watched featured Eccleston. He was really good in that. I've only seen a few Tennant's Doctor Who moments. He's pretty good too. I've seen the most of the original (two episodes of season 1). I remember that I enjoyed, but i was so young when I watched them that I can barely remember the episode content. Who in the world's Matt Smith? Something tells me that I really need to catch up (though I never do with these types of things. Once I'm behind or I miss one episode, I miss it for life) |

He's a actor who hasn't starred in any well known shows yet; so everyone is kinda confused about who he is... That's all I can say about him really. I'm sure there's a video interview on youtube which may help you to know him a little bit more. ^.^; Edited by lilhanhan, Jan 8 2009, 05:29 PM.

@Spong - Haha. Title changed.
And that scene is soooo funny.
It's one of my top two fave scenes so far. I love it.
My other fave scene is in "Partners in Crime." The scene when Dona and the Dr. first see each other.
(Seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_JjTTHVh_E)The only season I have seen, is season 4. My fave actor is David Tennant. My first opinion of Matt Smith, is that he is not only way too young. But he's just not right for the roll.

I just saw that scene! It's hilarious, especially with they're "talking" through the glass!
