Don't even get me started, if you are planning to go and see it.

So unbelivably...

Disappointing.

Not only disappointing.

A typical no-brain action movie.

And I was looking forward to this movie for so long.

Banal. Trivial. Pointless.

If it were not for the fantastic visual effects, I could die right on the spot of how 'popular' (and how the producers themselves said; 'sexy') and pathetic it was.

So. Bad.

But I will not let it kill the Trekkie in me. Hopefully, in the future, a competent writer and director will finally capture the essence of what the 'old' Star Trek used to be like.

--- --- ---

Rather go and see Gran Torino - that was a good movie in my opinion. Hell, even teh X-Men origins struck me as better.

Nuff siad for now. First, I got to calm down. I could chew furniture right now - I am in the middle of my Final Year Examinations and hoped for a good and exciting time in the cine. Never You mind now. I will calm down eventually.

~Thank you.

P.S. You would also believe that in the future they finally found a way for a painless and smooth birthgiving.

Don't read this either, if you are planning on seeing the movie - or perhaps do. It is very true in my opinion.

Star Trek (2009)

Give it a rest, Hollywood *Sigh*

"The soul of Star Trek has gone from this movie, replaced with stupid jokes and unexplained plot changes that must've been just because someone thought "wouldn't it be cool? Leaving the theater there were some shocked and disappointed looking faces.

So, non-fans view and enjoy but know that this is not Star Trek. This is JJ Abrams SciFi flick no. 1 with Star Trek written on it...

Fans, it's a fun movie but you're going to have to completely leave your brain at the door, something you should never have to do with a Star Trek movie Suffice to say when they talked about making this movie for a broader audience, they haven't just done that, they've completely dumbed it down to a point where only small children and people who don't like to think will enjoy it. That's OK, but the problem is Star Trek has always been for people who do think, for people who don't like random silliness, who like serious and interesting plots. We had a non-Star Trek fan see it with us and even he thought it was just silly. Too much is unexplained and too much has to be forgiven (in terms of "why did they do this instead of this?" sort of thing.) If you had ANY ties to previous Star Trek series or films, this film will likely break your heart."

:/

I like it. And I like "old" Star Trek.

Everyone I've spoken to thought it was great. *shrug* JJ Abrams is remaking my favorite books into movies soon and after seeing Star Trek, I am excited. Although-- you seem to be a bigger "Trekkie" than me, so after The Gunslinger comes out I may know how you feel if he messes it up...

I have met more people that liked it, but for me personally it was just a disappointment. Perhaps I was focusing too much on the things that were screwed up.

Perhaps I did not 'forgive' enough. I used to be a hardcore Trekkie. It relaxed over the years and I rediscovered it with the prospect of the new film.

Ech, I am guess I am too demanding for my own good, since it is impossible to portray in a long film the essence that is captured in 50 minutes of an episode. For me it just wasnt there. I guess that 'we saved the world' is not enough for me - I always want some other, deeper lines in there.

But I loved the special effects [with fond memories of those 'special effects' from the 60's :P]
