Oh yeah, International forums are here. I say this because its nice, it's stable, there ain't many .Comers on there and we need our weight thrown about a bit more, and it's looking like there's no change in the staff there either, at least with .Com's lineup. Good times. Help .Com out and use both!

This is why I hate Bioware.

Only a year until release, even less, and all they do is kite us with teasing information.

I'm just going to guesstimate that it'll be $50 to buy the game, and then $10-15 a month to play. It's a big-budget MMO, so I don't expect it to be F2P or on the lower price bracket of MMOs, but even something as simple as being 5USD cheaper than WoW could compel a whole lot of people to make the exodus.

I'm a bit sad that it looks like alignment will be just as cookie-cutter as other MMOs, but I've got hopes that Bioware will throw us a curve ball. I don't doubt that Sith and Jedi will be able to go from corrupt to pure and whatnot, but it's awful strange for Bioware to make alignment so linear in one of their RPGs.

mhmm i agree, and it that would normally be the price range for a new game and its fees a month.

Alignment works like so:

Light
Gray
Dark

The choices you make can't be remade on that character. They want you to feel as if you have consequences. Which is also why when you choose your advanced class, it's permanent as well.

I think this game's gonna be fuckin awesome. Agree/Disagree, James?

Few more questions.

From what I've seen, we create our storyline/ start out a certain way, where and when/how do we start interacting with people? Is this basically composed of single player "quests", with a large amount of people floating about through them?

Secondly, hao many characters are we allowed to have?

Good questions.

First of all, I've been following the game since May of 2009, and following the information they give and how they distribute the information, and how they deal with the game, I'd have to say that the amount of hype that is created because of their information control will really aid in the population at the start of the game. Bioware is expecting over 2 million people at launch to play, and that's a milestone to achieve. So yea, I think it's going to be pretty awesome.

The story line is like this. Each class within the game is presented their own unique story line. This means that each story line is completely different. Now, each story line is over 200 hours long at the start, which will be built upon through expansions and patch work. The way you choose to shape your story is through Bioware's patented choice making. If you're familiar with the KOTOR Series or Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins, you'll know what I'm talking about. The visual design template for the choices you choose in the game actually comes from the Mass Effect series. Now, there are three choices you are able to make during each response that you must select. One is light, one is gray, one is dark. Depending on the choice you choose, that choice in itself will shape how your next reponse will come out, and then in return it will shape how the entire scenario plays out. Later down the road after you decided to "Kill the captain" Your companion might betray you for doing so, or that captains family might send a bounty hunter after you 50 hours beyond that point in the story. This is just a prime example of how your choices in the game really effect you and the world around you.

The interaction with other people is going to start on your own planet. I'm going to go a step further and state that since every character player and non-player in the game is going to have their own unique voice, that even interacting with NPC's is a new breakthrough wonder. There are four "Origin" planets. Two out of each class starts on one. So you have the trooper and the smuggler on Ord Mantell, the Jedi Knight and Consular on Tython, the Sith Inquisitor and Warrior on Korriban, and the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent on Hutta. So when launch comes in Spring 2011 you'll be able to interact with quite a few people right off the bat.

The first thing about quests you need to know is that there are story quests which are designed for your class specifically, that no other class can be able to achieve. Then there are world quests that any class can possibly take on. The important thing about this is that even though the story quests are linear to the class, you can still have your imperial agent or Jedi Knight friend help with those quests. Now, their questing system is designed to accomodate multiple play styles whether you're a solo type of guy, group type of guy or whatever. So they have designed the quests to accommodate multiple play styles. So if you want to solo the entire story line of quests from first level to end cap, you can.

Now for the second part of this quest response. Earlier at E3 I found out from one of the reviews of the demo that unlike WoW, the instances provided on each world are seemless. If you watched the old Demo from last year with the Bounty Hunter and his first conversation, you noticed that he passed through a red or green portal that was placed inside the door. These portals have been designed to look more like the gates that stopped Obi-Wan from saving Qui-Gon in Episode I. These are actually points in the game that only allow your party or your self to be seen in that room, and in the conversations that take place in those rooms. It's to keep you immerse in the story, so that other random players aren't seen bunny hopping around your conversation and ruining it for you. That being said, if you've ever played WoW, they made a mention that the entire time they played, there was no loading screens anywhere. Even when you enter your player ship, there is no loading screen. It's an entirely seamless world designed to keep you immersed in the story and action. For instance, if you were playing WoW and you decided to do Deadmines, you would have to wait for a loading screen. If it were designed like Bioware is designing SWTOR, you could just walk in and wait for the rest of your party to do the same without one of those loading screens. This is a very monumental stage for the MMO Franchise.

Lastly, there is no limit specified on the amount of characters you can have. However, they had made it their mission to state that if you want to stay on one character, they are designing a plethora of end-game options for you to do so. But they encourage you to play the other classes because much like their role playing games, each class is an entirely different game.

IIRC, conversations with questgiving characters will allow for all party members to throw in their two cents at one point or another. I'm a bit hazy on it so correct me if I'm wrong, but the way they think it'll work is that once one player initiates conversation with the character that starts the dialogue cutscene, all other party members have two minutes to get there before it starts. Once everyone is there/the timer finishes off, the convo starts like one you might see in ME. Either way, it's exciting.

God dammit, I can't wait to have a ship. :D

You are correct, Sar. :)

Also, the way the multiplayer dialogue works is quite simple. Each character who is participating in the cut scene has an automatic dice roll before the next option. The highest gets to choose the dialogue option. However, that person who chooses that option and his alignment is the only one affected through that choice, so that those who want to stay lightside aren't given dark side points by someone else's choice.

Edit:

On the ship note, if you watch the ship preview, you can see your Companions interacting with the area around them inside the ship itself. Unlike KOTOR, they aren't standing in one spot, they will move around and keep your ship "tidy". I think the Ships themselves are really extravagant. I'm glad you don't customize them like in SWG. I really hated the way you had to position your items/furniture in any type of housing/ship.

Update: Sean Dahlberg interview added, 2 Write Up interviews added.

The write-ups are poorly done by what are supposed to be known as "professional" companies. For instance, they call the Sith Warrior a "Sith Trooper".

The Dahlberg interview is 35 minutes long and packed full of good info.
