Oops...it was removed. I looked at it before it was deleted. Be careful with these. We use the exact same container to haul some very caustic stuff, including Hydrocloric acid, Benzene, and other nasties. There is no way to clean a tank that held any of this stuff to a point where the water would be drinkable.

I was going to go to a local hardware store and see how much plastic drums are, but I see we have some sponsors: www.NTOTank.com and www.plastic-mart.com that I'll check out first

I get 55gallon blue plastic drums fer figinfree, all drinking water safe. The blue plastic cuts EASY, you can make all sorts of tubs and such with them, I have veggies planted in several tubs. When used to store water keep out of sun as black alge will grow in the drums, a bit of bleach will kill all critters in the water. Of course you can use them for passive solar water heaters as well. With a bit of work, plumbing and sealant, they can be made into showers, rain barrels, bathtubs, pontoons, even culverts; all that good stuff WW2 GI's used metal fuel drums for!

where are you getting your barrels for free?

I never realized they were still in business, but there is a Pepsi Cola plant nearby. Wonder if I can scrounge some from them? I believe someone had also suggested ones from car washes that only held soap?
