[Solved]Banner positioning and size

Hi,

Where in the CSS can I find how the banner is positioned and how can I adjust it so it fits a banner of my own choice.
Thus not limiting me with a particular size.
I've seen on some boards that they use really large banners (h x w).
Mine will be approx 150 height x (not sure trying to get it to fill the screen at 1280x1024 resolution, or atleast 1024x768).
I have like 5CM space on the left and right of my board, so i'm trying to get a banner alligned according to the theme's layout.

Thank for any useful replies,

5cm? You can't use those types of measurements on the internet :P
#logo is where you position the banner. Or add #logo img to the CSS and alter it using left/right/top/bottom margins. Also, a banner width of 750px is recommended, since you might have users who are using a 800x600 resolution.

Is it the banner you've got on your board now (if it's the same link I've had to dig out of my inbox)?

No that's an old banner that i'm currently using on IF.
One is being made that will have some sort of transparent effect so that it doesn't curse with the rest of the layout.
Since your theme is mainly black or in hex 2a2a2a/191919 i'm doing my best have a banner to match that.
From what I know about my users mainly use 1024x768 and higher, some even use 1440x900 (rare case though).
So that shouldn't be a problem, IMO your theme looks best at higher resolutions.
Just looks more detailed, hope you're not hating me still for changing so many things :'(

P.S. I opened a support ticket on the testboard about adding a image to the textbox area.
Please check it when you have time, i'm not quite sure if it's the code (as simple as it is) or the theme itself that's not making it work.

1440x900 is my resolution :P

I replied to your ticket hours ago (before your post), but please don't 'P.S' staff to check things, we'll always get around to it.

Anyway, I can't help you position it without knowing exactly where you want it, and what the image is.

I figure if I use this in Theme Settings it's fine also.

<a href='http://s1.zetaboards.com/ARPS/index/' title='Home'><center><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/Jinrai/bannertest6.png" alt="Ambrosia Realm v.2" /></center>

That banner, haha it's not even worthy of being called a banner it's just a test image to check how far I could go with the size.
Anyways I figured the max size for a 1024x768 resolution is 955x135 (higher than 135 looks weird IMO).
The layout doesn't get affected in any way, though as you said for those using 800x600 (it's 2008 they should drop using low resoluations allready :-/ )

The image fills the whole screen at 1024x768 and for 1280x1024 it has a very acceptable look to it.
Don't want to leave too much empty space at the sides.

So to sum it up it all worked out fine and this can be considered solved, sorry for the P.S. thing.
And I assume you're using a Dell laptop XPS serie? Could be wrong though :P

Dell Inspiron.

<a href='http://s1.zetaboards.com/ARPS/index/' title='Home'><center><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/Jinrai/bannertest6.png" alt="Ambrosia Realm v.2" /></center>

Don't use that in the theme settings, the HTML won't 'flow', if that makes sense. The board automatically puts the link tags around whatever it is in the theme settings.
Just put <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/Jinrai/bannertest6.png" alt="Ambrosia Realm v.2" /> and add text-align: center; to the #logo in the CSS.
