I just recently developed an interest in ZetaBoards and designing forum skins. I'm still starting out though, so I'm bound to have a few questions before I proceed. I don't know CSS and I have intermediate knowledge of Photoshop.

How should I go about designing and then creating the theme to work with ZetaBoards? I figured by creating a "skin print" and then slicing the images. Should I go to great lengths to learn CSS? It's obvious knowing CSS would help a great deal, but how much knowledge is needed when you're only interesting in creating ZetaBoard themes?

Thanks for any opinions regarding my questions. :)

CSS is CSS, so learning it would allow you to apply it to any site which uses a style sheet. It's a useful language to know if you're interested in the area of web design.

I wrote this around a year ago: click me
For users who want to be able to understand how to get a particular effect, or to find out what a particular line does.

If you need any assistance with CSS I and others on this board are more than happy to help walk you through it so you understand it a little better :)

Also: Be aware that what you think looks good on a 'print' may not be coded easily, so don't do nuts.
You'll also get a cookie if you do code up a design you create, people rarely do these days :(

Thanks for the reply, Nicola. :D

I'll start reading your documentation immediately. I also have the CSS Mastery book by Andy Budd. Heard it was a great book. Hate to have to read a book on a monitor though, I just gotta have a physical book. Though I suppose it's better in several ways.
