Feel kinda bad!!

My grandpa's town house is still on the market. We moved in October, its been almost a year now.

My grandpa changed agents - so maybe that will help the listing looks so much better. Not to mention he got way better pictures and a virtual tour added to the listing online.

They repainted the house, and is now as Jeremiah says "Poop brown" (insert another word...). They removed the children's play structure from the back yard, which I thought would be neat to families with young kids but whatever!

What I feel terrible about is that we would have bought the place if he sold it to us for his current asking price! He wanted 122k from us. He now has it listed for 115k. He was/is angry at us because we didn't buy it, but come on now grandpa - there is the same model selling now for $98k in perfect move in condition and it is not even selling! How are you going to ask $122k. So I feel bad - but its so obvious to us how he was trying to take advantage of us; and on top of that his total lack of well knowledge of the real estate market here. We're getting a steal with the house we're looking at, because in a few years when the market goes back up we'd be able to sell easy for $170+

Don't feel bad!!! He was being stubborn and trying to take advantage of you. Now he's stuck with a house no one wants. You did the right thing!!! the last thing you needed was an overpriced falling apart house!!!

I certainly am glad we didn't go for that deal (or was it....) Its kind of funny how the mortgage for that townhouse (per my grandfather's way) equaled out to a mortgage payment about the same as what we are currently projected on a house 30k more. I think its b/c of the HOA dues (almost $200 per month, if I remember correctly - had it set up to go to an escrow account or something). A single family house that is not a condo or townhouse is dramatically cheaper.
