Alyssa yawned widely as she leant her chin against her hand, her elbow propped up on the desk on the far side of the room. There had been hardly any medical emergencies in the past couple of days, and the late night shift was always the least eventful. The main cause of Alyssa's drooping eyelids was the lack of sleep the night before; she'd woken up in a cold sweat, unsure of what she'd been dreaming and why she'd been evicted from her sleep. It was pretty much safe to say, she didn't get back to sleep after that, and had spent the next few hours proof reading her most recent medical reports. Right now, she'd much rather be in the recreation deck, having a drink with some friends, or catching up on sleep in her bunk, but unfortunately she'd drawn this shift, and was now stuck doing nothing, watching the minutes tick by, waiting to get out of there. |

Leonard had been in the recreation deck, having a small drink with some people he had met back at the academy. When he hadn't been hanging around with Kirk. On his way back to his room, he decided to stop by the infirmary and pick up something that he had left there. A bit of light reading on a medical condition that had always intrigued him but he had never had access to at the academy. When he entered, he noticed Alyssa sat with her head in her hand. Rolling his eyes, he picked up the file from his desk and looked over at her. "Tired are we?" |

![]() Alyssa looked up quickly, having not noticed anyone come in, she was surprised to see someone there. She bit her lip a little, "and bored actually," she admitted. She'd been sat there for three hours already with nothing going on. Alyssa looked at the file in McCoy's hand, "what's that?" she asked, being generally nosy. It was either that, or he might just turn round and leave, then she'd be subjected to another two hours of silence. Edited by becky, Jul 5 2009, 07:37 PM.

McCoy looked at Alyssa with an eyebrow raised. "We all get bored on duty sometimes. But as the chief medical officer it is my duty to remind you that there is always something to be done." When she asked what his file was, he looked down at it for a few seconds before looking back up at her. "Just a bit of research on a personal interest." |

Alyssa felt the need to mock salute, but managed to resist. He was, of course, ranking medical officer, and she liked her job. Most of the time she took it seriously, but her tiredness had let her slip into a sarcastic mood. She thought about what he'd said for a moment, and glanced around the room. Seriously, what was there to do? The other reply he gave was highly unsatisfactory, but she didn't want to pry any further. "I suppose I could always go through and recheck the stocks of medical supplies," she said. Yes, that would be really exciting. "It'd pass the time at least." She didn't want to wish something bad on anybody, but anything remotely intriguing would have been great. |
