The most SSBL-ready SG in the class has to be Paul Pierce from Kansas. He's not explosive a la Vince Carter, but he does alot of things right. He's a solid defender, good ball-handler for a wing, and is pretty strong. He also rebounds pretty well, but his best strength would probably be his 3pt shooting. I wouldn't call him the best 3pt shooter of this class though. That title would undoubtedly go to Michael Redd, a sophomore from Ohio State. Guy is lights out and has one of the smoothest slightshot strokes I've ever seen. Night fighting through a screen and giving him enough room is an absolute no-no. The best foregin prospect (arguably) is Emmanuel Ginobili from Argentina. He spent last year playing in Italy, and this guy is a serious baller. He's got enough quicnkess and a huge European stride to his step to make him pretty tough to guard off the drible. The crafty left also has range, so look out for Manu. Desmond Mason from OK State is a thunderous dunker, but needs to develop a better Jumper. Raja Bell from FIU is a savy defender, somewhat Bruce Bowen like, but has a better looking 3pt shot than bowen does, I'd say. Ricky Davis from Iowa St enters the wildcard again, but you can tell that his youngster needs to mature and develop a few parts of his game. If the potential is there, he's athletic enough to live up to the hype. Gordan Giricek from Croatia is a pretty good shooter, and a decent wing player. Also a pretty good defender than his ratings show. Dion Glover is a solid, strong wing G/F who can be any teams back up right from the get-go. I'm intrigued by Courtney Alexander from Fresno St as well, teammate of Skip to my Lou Rafer Alston. Alexander was a nice compliment to Skip, providing good scoring numbers, it'll be interesting to see if he can make it in the bigs too. Laron Profit is a solid scorer, good finisher off the break, but needs to get stronger and get better defensively.I woudl probably say the same thing about Roberto Bergersen from Boise State. |
