"SSBL FA: 1990 Offseason" With the 1989 season over with (congrats Bullets), the start of the 1990 season is around the corner. The draft is currently still going on, but it's worth thinking about FA, especially with teams that have some cap space. With that being said, this FA class is overall really weak, as their are only 3 clear cut players worth offering big deals. However, their are still some solid bench players to fringe starters. After looking at the big 3, let's take a look at the rest of the FA's. The Big 3: C Sam Bowie: Bowie had a solid season for the Nuggets. He is mainly known for his defense and rebounding, but he can score too, being a solid #3 and even #2 on some teams. He's going to be 29 going into the season, so a long term deal is definitely a must if you want this guy. Bowie will help any frountcourt in this leaguePG Darrell Walker: Walker was the starting PG for the Celtics this past season, and did a fine job. Walker won't ever be a scoring option on a team, but he's a good enough ball handler and defender to start on any team really in this league. Walker is also going to be 29 heading into next season, and should get a 4 year deal or so. PF Wayman Tisdale: Tisdale was having a solid season up until injury cost his season and the Cavs from making a good run in the Playoffs. Tisdale is the youngest of this bunch at 26. He has some work to do with his rebounding and defense, but should be a good scorer. A long term deal is a no brainer. Tisdale has really good scoring abilitiesThe Rest: SG Sarunas Marciulionis: Started off really good with the Mavs, then was traded to the Celtics. Sarunas is a good defender that needs focus on his offense. However, he's more of fringe starter. Some team could get lucky with an MLE, but I see him getting a 3 year type deal. Sarunas could be a nice pick of for a team that needs a SGSF Rod Higgins: Was the starting SF for the Hawks this past season. Isn't a an option type of player, but a good role player to have on a team. I could see him go for a nice 1 year deal from the Hawks or just go MLE. SF Kenny Walker: The starting SF for the Pistons this past season, Walker is almost in the same boat as Higgins. He's much younger, so he could get a multi-year deal, but he's also not an option type of player. "I Suck Overall, But I'm Good At One Thing" All these guys are Min. type players without question. PF Wesley Williams: Only on the list because he's sadly one of the best inside scorers in this FA class. Can't defend or rebound, but could provide some scoring off the bench. SF Scoonie Chen: Actually listed as the best outside shooter in this FA class. Besides that, he's terrible. PG Sidney Lowe: The 2nd-best ball handler in this FA class. Avg. at best at defense, but beyond that, garbage. C Rickey Green: Outside of Bowie and D. Walker, he's the best defender. At 36, he has 0 offense and avg. at best ball handler. C Doug Roth: I'm 23 and full of potential! NOT! This guy is the best rebounder out there behind Bowie. Edited by Maverick41, Jul 2 2009, 01:40 AM.
