![]() Hakeem 'The Dream' Olajuwon The 'Dream' is having a dream season and giving opponents nightmares at the same time. His Golden State Warriors are currently 42-26 with a win percentage of .618. The Warriors are behind only the Knicks, Hawks, and Magic in terms of having the league's best record, but they do lead the west as the top team in that conference. And it's mostly due to their man in the middle, Hakeem Olajuwon. Not only has Hakeem led his team to a great record so far, but he is playing amazing individual ball as well. He is 7th in scoring per game with an average of 26.5, and 4th in blocks with 3.7. But, his most impressive stat is his rebounding. Olajuwon pulls down 13.8 boards a contest. That's more than a whole rebound a game ahead of the next guy in line -- the Miami Heat's center David Robinson. That is really incredible when you look at the other elite rebounders in his conference like Dennis Rodman, Sam Bowie, Larry Nance, and Charles Oakley just to name a few. And just like every other player in the league, Olajuwon is focused on winning a championship more than anything else, which is another reason to be blown aback by this man's skills. Watching him on the court you would think he is looking to get his teammates involved in the game more than he is trying to keep up his averages. You would be right, because it's true. Hakeem Olajuwon is so good I'm not sure any of us has ever seen him play at his maximum level, individualistically speaking. If he did one day decide to become a selfish player, I think we would all be seeing one of the scariest players to ever lace up. His teammates agree. "Hakeem is just so good it's unbelievable," Said Warriors forward Kiki Vandeweghe. "I've played with a lot of good centers in my day, and no offense to them, but Hakeem surpasses anything any of those guys ever did, or would ever wish to do. And that's not a knock on those guys - it's a testament to how darn good Hakeem is. He even does a better job playing guard than a lot of people in this league." So without further ado let me introduce to you the Player of the Month of February, and the new front-runner for the MVP award, Mr. Hakeem Olajuwon. Be afraid rest of league - be very afraid. ![]() Hakeem Olajuwon showing his offensive prowess |
