"1989 SSBLv3 PR's" We have a new top team in the league, the Atlanta Hawks. The season is almost at the mid-point, as the All-Star game is due up. If teams want to really content, they better make some moves because the pretenders are starting to show. For now, let's take a look at each team's performances up-to-date: 1. Atlanta Hawks The Hawks continue their great play behind their young scorer SG Reggie Miller. Miller has been a beast this season. The Hawks are built as a very complete team and don't seem that they will be slowing down anytime soon. They need to rebound better. 2. Orlando Magic The Magic are right on the Hawks tail, only a 0.5 game back. The Magic started off slow, but I think it just took a little time for their main guys to gel and get used to each other. Now, playing with more consistency, this team looks like the team to beat. It was just time until this giant woke up. However, with the extensive injury to Smith, the Magic will slip. Drexler has been the Magic's leading scorer this season3. Vancouver Grizzlies The Grizzlies have been solid all season long. They are still the best team out West, and are pretty darn close to having the best record in the league. The thing I really like about this team is that they are very balanced, having a little bit of everything from each of their players. If possible, it would be nice to see their young gun Lewis get a camp this season. Lewis is having a solid season for the Grizz4. Detroit Pistons The Pistons key has been consistency. Malone and Ewing form a very formitable frountcourt. However, I kind of question their backcourt. JoeD is a nice player, but I don't like him at SG. If I were the Pistons, I would try and find a SG with similar scoring abilities but better defensively. Ewing is one of the top C's in the league5. New York Knicks The Knicks haven't faltered this season thus far.Smits and Tarpley are still nasty. They need an upgrade at PG though. Will Kerr be able to lead the Knicks to the promised land?6. Golden State Warriors The Warriors' Olajuwon continues his MVP-like #'s. If this team has another really good scorer around 20 ppg, they could be a lot better. Question is, can the Warriors get that player? 7. Cleveland Cavaliers The Cavs have dropped a little. Wilkins continues his nasty play. This team needs to commit more on the defensive end and rebound better. Tisdale has served as a nice #2 for the Cavs. 8. Charlotte Hornets The Hornets have been able to turn around their season. Their main problem was figuring out their SF and they have been able to do that. Losing Rivers to injury again hurts. 9. New Jersey Nets The Nets have really improved their play. Cummings and Richmond are a very nice scoring combo. They really need a better PG as Wilkins won't get it done for them. Their point differential needs to improve as well. 10. Utah Jazz The Jazz are led by PG Fat Lever. He is having a great season, doing everything on the floor. This team is fairly well rounded, but they need to rebound and defend better. Their GM recently wanted to upgrade his PF position. 11. Boston Celtics The Celts have been really inconsistent after their great start. They made some solid moves, in what I thought, by bringing in McHale and Marciulionis. It's hard to determine what has led to their problem, but it could be on the defensive end. 12. San Antonio Spurs After a poor start, Price, Worthy, and the rest of the Spurs have been able to turn their season around. Price needs to cut down on his TO's, and they still need better rebounding and shot blocking. 13. Phoenix Suns The Suns are still a Playoff basketball team. King continues to be their best player. It should be interesting to see if this team can keep it up. 14. Denver Nuggets The Nuggets have improved somewhat. Magic continues his "Magical" season. If the Nuggets could improve their defense by a couple of points, they would have more wins in the win column. 15. Los Angeles Lakers The Lakers have tried to stay hungry and are currently in the #7 spot out in the West. Some of their key players have slowed down and their point differential could be better. 16. Portland Trailblazers The Blazers have been able to get their act together and hold the #8 spot in the West. Malone continues to be a beast. Losing McMillan to injury has hurt them this season. He cannot stay healthy. If this team makes the Playoffs, Im sorry but its a 1st rd exit for them. 17. Washington Bullets The best player in the league continues to shine, but the Bullets made a move that has decided their season. By trading McHale for Williams, the Bullets are clearly not trying to compete this season. 18. Milwaukee Bucks In an attempt to salvage their season, the Bucks have played really well as of late. Catledge has been a nice surprise for them. Anderson and Harper are their best players. Timmy has had some growing pains this season. 19. Chicago Bulls This is the postion the Bulls don't want to see themselves at. They just can't seem to get over the hump. Not having a true PG hurts. 20. Philadelphia 76ers The Sixers have been up and down this season, but mostly down. Barkley continues to show he's a legit PF in this league. This team really needs to play better defense. 21. Sacramento Kings I hope Kings fans didn't get too excited to their good start. The Kings are where they should be this season. This team has holes that need to be filled this offseason. 22. Seattle Supersonics What has happened to the Sonics? After a really nice start, the Sonics have not been able to keep it up. Their point differential is not great and Stockton has an uncharacteristically high number of TOs per game. 23. Miami Heat I knew this team couldn't keep it up. They are still too young. DRob is flat out awesome. Anderson has had a decent season as well. 24. Minnesota Timberwolves The TWolves look decent on paper, but can't translate that onto the court. KJ needs to cut down on his TOs, and they need to trade one of their PFs for another position like SG. 25. Houston Rockets The Rox find themselves in a really weird position. They built their team to contend, but it has been quite the opposite. They still have the best offense but also the worst defense. This just proves that offense fills Arena's, while defense wins championships. 26. Toronto Raptors The Raptors have clearly made up their mind that this season is a bust. If they can trade Ellis for some talent and decent picks, by all means do it. 27. Los Angeles Clippers The Clippers are a terrible team but are headed in the right direction with Manning. 28. Indiana Pacers The Pacers have been terrible all season long. Their main guys are still too young and raw. 29. Dallas Mavericks The Mavs are a flat out joke and may be one of the worst teams in league history. |

Great read. I hope the move in starting Marciulionis will get my team back on the right track. |
