Player Profile: Mavs SF Chuck Person Person has been known as being a scorer, mainly from the outside. Not only that, but his trash talking is pretty well known as well. That fire and passion he brings every game has helped propel him to where he is now in his career. Person was pretty excited as being the Mavs major piece that they will be building around at the moment. Person says that he will improve but only time will tell. Person had the reputation of being a trash talkerPerson attended Brantley High School in Brantley, Alabama and wasn't heavily recruited, but Auburn took a chance on him in 1982. In his sophomore season, Person was a full-time starter at forward and teamed with Charles Barkley to form a nice inside-out combo. Person's superb outside shooting skills helped Auburn University to its first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1984. Person averaged 19.1 points per game that season. Person attended Auburn UniversityComing into this league, Person was drafted in the second round with the #12 pick by the Phoenix Suns. The Mavs were then able to make a trade with the Suns in acquiring Person. WIth Person, the Mavs couldn't be any happier. He has started off the season avg. 26.6 pts. a game, and is the vocal leader in the lockerroom. The Mavs want him to mainly improve on his defense and inside scoring. With more talent coming in, Person will be key piece to future success of the Mavs. The Mavs really value Person's scoring abilities
