![]() Mookie is determined to improve on his stellar play from Oklahoma. When people hear the name Mookie Blaylock they always get taken back for a few reasons. One its because Mookie is always a funny name, I mean cmon Mookie. The second reason is because people always get reminded of Pearl Jam, as they started out as Mookie Blaylock. The last reason is what the scouts think of, a up and coming point guard. Mookie made his name because he was a nightmare for opposing point guards, constantly creating turnovers. Mookie shot the ball quite efficiently at OU and rounded his game out grabbing four rebounds and dishing out five assists a game. Projecting his future the Raptors are hoping for 14 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game from their point guard. Being on a young team means he will probably face his share of bumps, but with scorers like Ellis and Malone, they should help the development. Mookie is clearly a building block for this Raptors team. ![]() Jeff Malone is so efficient he once scored over 20 points a game for Jerry Sloan. Coming out of Mississippi State Jeff Malone was turning heads for the flurry of offensive moves that he possessed. He don't have the three point shot, but his mid range game is one of the best around. Also you know that you are going to get an efficient player, constantly shooting over 48% from the field. However in the trade off, he doesn't play the greatest defense. With that being said you have to take the good along with the bad. He is still only 28 years old and is currently in his prime. The Raptors are expecting at least 18 points a game from Malone, if he can average that night in and night out while remaining efficient then he will be just fine. ![]() Dale Ellis earned the nickname "Silent Assassin" while with the Sonics. Finishing off a four year career at the University of Tennesee the silent assassin came out an All-American first team award winner. Taking his pretty stroke to the SSBL. He got off to a slow start because he didn't get a lot of minutes at first, however once he was traded from the Mavericks and got minutes he blew up. Becoming a 25 point scorer overnight it seemed, he was an assassin beyond the arc. In addition to that he has a great inside game as well and should create a lot of matchup problems for opposing small forwards. Like Jeff Malone he is more concerned with offense than his defense, but like the exchange the Raptors will be happy with 20 points a game. ![]() Roy Hinson is still clearly thinking about that keg stand he did last night with Vlade Coming out of the small school in Rutgers, a lot of people didn't know what Roy Hinson was going to bring the table. However after a few years it became evident that you were going to get three things. Low post scoring, blocked shots and a bunch of personal fouls. Hinson should be a better rebounder for a man his size, so the Raptors are going to try him at power forward to see if that helps him take advantage of smaller forwards. Hinson like Ellis and Malone will be entering his prime for the next few seasons. Vlade Divac is already a known commodity. Obviously the team has some weakspots, the fans in Toronto are not expecting a championship contender right away which really helps the process because if they can build on the building blocks from this year this team can be good in a few years. Meant that I already wrote an article on him, didn't feel like regurgitating words. |
