Up until a few days Vlade Divac was regarded as a up and coming center, however since being picked ninth overall he is quickly adjusting to the new life and expectations that come with being that pick. Divac is the type of player whose stats will never justify being the ninth overall pick, especially not over the likes of Nique, Bird and Magic. However the Raptors are using a different perspective in which the entire league is not keen on looking at. A lot of the teams are looking to win now, well the Raptors realized that there can't be 28 winners. There is going to be some bad teams, so why not prepare for now and the future? By selecting Divac the Raptors have secured his bird rights and have a player that will be 21 once the season starts. He is one of the best passers at the center position, he is a capable defender and rebounder. Scoring is clearly the area that he will have to work on, but for the moment the Raptors realize that they still have to select teammates. We will be targeting scorers to help take the pressure off of Divac.![]() Now that Divac is rich, he is adjusting to the life that comes with it. Seen the other day shopping for Gucci Bags, Divac was quite a hit in Toronto. This is a quick expanding area for Basketball. In Toronto you are starting to see the little kids pick up basketballs instead of the hockey puck. Divac is going to be the ugly face for the Canadians. Vlade comes in being one of the most scrutinized pick thus far however that is not getting to him. I have bigger things to worry about in life, for instance these alleged comments that I like to flop, What is that? Divac is committed to spreading the awareness of basketball and is working hand in hand with the kids. However this is just a part of the day of the life of Vlade Divac. ![]() Vlade Divac is coming from Yugoslavia so the transition has been a little rocky, but with good friends like Scott Pollard and the love of the fans Divac is liking what he is seeing. However one thing that is allowing him to cope is the fact that he is a rare commodity from the center position. He is projected to end up in a rare class. One scout says that I can see him joining the club of 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocks, that is the type of skill set that he possess. While it will certainly take a few years to reach his full potential, the Raptors are not worried about that right now. The one thing that they know is that they have a premier center in SSBL. With the first few picks you seen the likes of Robinson, Ewing and Olajuwon. It is evident that you need a center to succeed. When factoring in potential, it was evident that Divac was next to be on that list. ![]() 8. Los Angeles Lakers: Shawn Kemp 10. Boston Celtics: Larry Bird 11. Cleveland Cavaliers: Dominique Wilkins 12. Indiana Pacers: Scottie Pippen Those are four of the players that Divac will always have to be compared with, however it is a challenge that he is up to. Small forwards are a dime a dozen, Kemp is still an unknown right now. He has proved nothing, like me. However that is not a knock on him, I seen him play and he will be a player. However I think that people are falling in love with his athletic ability. At the end of the day it is a question, Can you play or not? I know that I can, I plan on proving it throughout my entire career. |

very good read. I think Vlade will be a good player for you, and will hopefully quiet the critics one of these days. |

$325. Good stuff. Don't kick yourself too much about the selection though. This is my first CD, and tbh, not a fan of it. That's why I've been trying to acquire future 1sts. Divac should be fine and you still have all your 1sts, which is important at this time. |
