"Heh, allright then!" Sumomo grinned as she waited for Katie to hold on to the stabilizer. She'd need to - once this thing hit past 8.8 Gs, they'd see some serious shit. "You better hold on tight, because we're going to be tearing through these bastards!"

She was still kind of surprised that some of her shots were blocked by some kind of barrier - an I-Field, perhaps? - but she couldn't worry about that now. The more they pumped these things out, the harder it would be for their forces to break through! As soon as Katie's Blue Destiny had a firm grip on her stabilizer, she gunned the boosters and blasted through like a bat out of hell! The violent thrust that the extra boosters produced was probably manageable for Katie seeing as she was a robot, and it would require Sumomo to concentrate just to not black out from the acceleration.

Without further ado, she flew in low to more or less hopefully escape detection from aerial radar, and picked one of the open hangars where the Battas were swarming out of! She decided not to shoot anything just yet and relied on Katie to just keep any that get too close off their backs - after all, she didn't want to attract too much attention to themselves. Hopefully, she and her partner could get inside!

... Little did she know about the strange antiquated battleship that was about to open fire on their forces with a powerful weapon that was belied by its antiquated build!...

「吼えろ!コンパチカイザー!」

As the tandem of beams from multiple assailants drew closer to the Silverwind...they seemed to hit their mark, only to pass right through it...the Silverwin'd impressive speed once again shined as it merely left an afterimage of itself in its wake. This in turn allowed for Shoko and the G-Thundergate to boost away before pulling off a U-Turn to counter...she wasn't going to give up the engine all too easily, afterall.

"G-Missiles...FIRE!" Shoko roared as the panels opened up and she unleashed a volley of the large missiles at the Silverwind...who proceeded to counter almost immediately by attacking just about everything in the vicinity.

"VOLTIC SHOOTER!"

And with that a wave of electric bolts were sent wildly all around the Silverwind, striking missile, batta, and attempting to strike anything that dared to get close to the Inspector machine.

"...."

Analyze, adapt, and overcome. That is how the Zovorg alliance dealt with its enemies. While last time, the joints that held the two large cannons in place were a weakness, they had been strengthened, just enough to at least take more than one shot this time around. The Drukin stood firm in taking the attacks and it did take a bit of damage, but nothing to actually disable the mech. Instead, the gigantic left hand winded up and aimed to just punch the Wing Zero!

Mekibos continued to just watch the battle unfold, but he did seem to order the Gekigan Types to actually do more than just stand there. Soon enough a number of ships would be facing Gravity Blasts from each of the large super robots backing the Inspectors up

Sumomo and Katie would be faced with an intensified battery of fire as the Battas continued to fly out of the hangar, as guarding them would be nothing more than a small army of tanks with legs. Each equipped with double barreled cannons on top, which opened fire upon the fact that something was drawing closer that wasn't actually part of their forces.

"Yes!" whispered excitedly as her attack seemed to strike gold. But Ashley's excitement quickly turned to confusion and anger as the beam passed through the afterimage. Clenching her teeth Ashley quickly found the Silverwind and was preparing to launch another attack when Nomake came over the com.

"Ashley, change of plans. I'm sending you targeting data for the other large-scale unit. I've got the remaining one. Try to hold off any serious fire, test the water on approach. See if you can get behind him then fire at will!"

"Ashley after is 'Zovorg 3'."

"Roger!" Ashley answered as she turned the Sagittarius putting it on an intercept trajectory with the Graterkin. Raising the 'Pilum' cannon Ashley released a large beam blast form the cannon aimed for Graterkin's chest.

The Gekigan types proved their effectiveness quickly as one of the Ark classes escorting the Argama erupted in a ball of flames. "Divert some of the mobile suit squads to deal with those machines, we can't allow them to go unchecked." Zode ordered. "See if any of the SMS can deal with those -"

"Incoming high energy attack towards alpha group!" one of the crew aboard the Argama's bridge shouted moments before the Wave Motion shot ripped through the LFA lines. The blast ripped through the bridge of 1 Ark class and the engine block of the Ark class adjacent causing it to go crashing into the lunar surface.

"Where did that blast come form!" Zode shouted.

"Visual on screen, it doesn't match any known signature" another crewmember answered with hesitation, and as Zode looked he realized why. There above the moon was what looked to be a relic form 20th century. Resembling an old navy warship that had been remodeled for space. The strange battleship would have been the strangest thing he had ever seen up until recently.

"All groups are to continue to advance . New ship is deemed hostile and high priority target. The Argama along with the, Izafune, Kurogane and the Momotaro will break formation to engage the new target." Zode order before turning in his seat "Captain Andrew weapons free and she is all yours."

"Aye, sir" Captain Andrew replied with a grin, "Adjust our course, and bring us to bear. Prepare the hyper mega particle cannon to fire on my mark. "

"3..."
"2..."
"1..."
"Welcome to the moon you bastards... Mark!"

A wave of beam cannon blasts form the four ships sailed towards the Yamato.

EFSF Magellan-class battleship, Brisbane…

Commodore Gills eyed the battles raging on ahead of them earnestly with barely a hint of stress on the lines of his face. Only determination and confidence, that this impressive fleet he was assigned with is going to take back the Lunar Mackenzie base which was embarrassingly lost to these unknown Inspector group.

Still, there was a brief moment when confusion and wonder crossed his mind and face earlier when he noted somewhat calmly that LFA ships were in the vicinity, as well as vessels belonging to one of those Macross Consortium groups of which the name escapes him at the moment; all combined outnumbers his current battlefleet. Hundreds of questions formed in his head, and none of them re-assuring to say the least, and he concluded quietly that whatever happens, he mustn’t let them reach the base first at all cost.

But he appreciated the effort to divert most of the enemy’s attention towards them, he’ll give them that.

“Sir, I’m detecting a warp-like signature off to starboard. Elevation: eight hundred.” The sensor operator reported in. “Wait… something just appeared. It’s a ship sir… but we don’t have anything on it at all.”

Meaning: it’s unidentifiable, never a good thing on the battlefield. How many times did he came across unidentified ships during the One Year War? “Put it up on screen and let me see.”

The operator complied, and on his multi-purpose control panel, a video live feed window popped open, showing with some clarity a strange looking vessel about the length of a Sally that he would find very at home among the Federal navy ships. But true enough, it wasn’t anything that he had ever seen, and anything he doesn’t recognize still gets his suspicion… even if they’re flying what seems to be the Federal star and anchor on its hull.

His suspicion however, was slightly abated when the ship suddenly opened fire with what seems to be a gigantic beam cannon that was aimed straight ahead and towards the brouhaha that was the mass of LFA ships. Quite unexpected, and completely against his earlier orders to all ships in his battle fleet to not attack the LFA, but there was nothing he could do about it now.

“Sir, the LFA’s Argama is breaking off from formation, and telemetry indicates it’s heading towards the unknown ship.” The sensor operator reported.

“Oh no, they don’t.” Gills said curtly. “Helms, get us on an intercept course with it, and somebody get the Sunshine, Aliburton, Jindai and Maverick to accompany us. Comms, try to hail that ship, I want answers now.” Gills ordered as he straightens up in his seat.

It took a while than he expected, due to the strange encoding and frequency the strange ship was using for its communications, but once a line was established, the comms officer gave Gills the go signal.

“Unidentified Ship, this is Commodore Garret Gills of the Earth Federation Space Force battleship, Brisbane.” Gills started gruffly. “Identify yourself and state your objectives here.”

As the Brisbane and its Salamis Kai escorts break formation to intercept the Argama, all their main guns opened fire in unison, sending several lances of beam cannon fire at the approaching Argama…

Former EFSF Mackenzie Lunar Base, Outer Perimeter…

“Howard!”

“Holy-!”

The Messiah’s sensors blaring following Yuki’s warning came almost too late, as the Silverwind began launching bolts of electricity at everything around it. Howard jerked his controls back, switching his Armored Messiah into gerwalk mode first to kill his forward momentum before turning upwards to fly away from the volley of electric attacks in fighter mode. Still, a stray electric bolt passed too close to him and sent a near crippled power surge into the fighter’s system that made it waver in flight and unable to attack at the moment.

“Dammit, this is not looking good.” Howard commented as he made the Messiah slowly execute a loop.

“Hang on, I’m re-routing the systems to compensate…” Yuki replied earnestly with a hint of strain in her voice.

Around the same time, a massive energy cannon was fired from the recently appeared battleship, and it hit the unprepared Melbourne right in the center of the hull at the top and out at the bottom, causing it to jerk down before a chain of explosions causes it to sink and hit the dusty lunar surface in flames: the VB-6 Koenig Monster which was standing in place at the forward hull managed to get off safely before it would have sunk with it.

“What the hell!?”

Instantly, the SMS chain of command was in chaos, and the surviving and unharmed Champagne and Marseilles were now unsure of what to do now with the loss of their lead carrier ship and squadron leader. At the moment, both requested for the remaining VFs take defensive positions around them while taking evasive maneuvers in case the unidentified battleship decided to finish them off as well…

Former EFSF Mackenzie Lunar Base, Inner Perimeter…

The Ramrod and its accompanying escort of one Magellan and four Salamis Kai was slowly inching their way towards the base’s perimeter itself, somewhere far ahead than the rest of the Space Force but somewhere behind the odd pairing of Zeta Plus and Blue Destiny.

As they closes in, the Ramrod accelerated forward and engages its Challenge Phase, and once it fully converts itself into its humanoid form, proceeded to fires up all its chest mounted gun forward at the mass of Megilots and captured units heading straight towards them, blasting a path in the middle so they can continue onwards…

“Reports are in: all personnel are on board, Lord Captain.” The Executive Office reported, holding a data pad after a careful study. “All is accounted for and are at their respective stations at the ready. The ship is yours to command.”

Xin allowed himself a satisfied smile, before turning away to face the rest of the command section, with all officers and crews facing him at the ready as well for the word. Slowly, the grizzled lord captain extended a hand forward, and Yirmr, the bird of prey that was the symbol of his command perched above him on his command seat, spreads its wings slowly as well.

“All hands to your stations and prepare to launch. Power up the main drives, arm all our guns, and tell those fighting outside the Disva Kyedu Maligant will be joining them shortly.” The ordered slowly, his voice picked up by an amplifier that projected his voice clearly to everyone.

In unison, the crew and officers saluted, before turning to their respective stations and began a flood of activity that reached out to the rest of the gigantic space fortress. A low moan of the engine can be heard rising from behind as the many engine nozzles of its main drives lit up.

At the same time, there would be a huge spike of energy surge that could be readable by any advanced sensors beyond, and the three Inspectors fighting outside were discreetly informed of the update status of the ship.

It was almost time…

"Dodge! Dodge!" Katie yelled over the contact-comlink, trying to shy away from the blasts fired at them from every angle as both the Batta swarm and a bunch of legged-tanks tried to shoot them down the closer they got. Clinging onto the Zeta Plus there wasn't a whole lot she could do, but letting go was also not an option. Her Blue Destiny just wasn't as fast; in this dense pack of enemies she'd be shot down for sure. She could try activating the remnants of the EXAM System as she had during the Inspector attack on Hatsunejima, but doing so had the same limitations it always did. Five minutes' run time, and ran an extreme risk of destabilizing her android body. Activating it this early into the battle wouldn't be smart, at least not if she wanted to make it back alive.

So for now she just did her best to snipe down or shoo away Battas with her beam rifle, which she was supporting the barrel of on the Zeta Plus's shoulder. Most of the Battas weren't affected by her shots, but at least the kinetic energy of the blasts would knock them away or knock their weapons out of alignment.

Nomake's mouth hung agape as the buster rifles' blasts fizzled out having left no discernable damage to the Drukin. The Zero System pulled him back out of his surprise with enough time to react to the massive beast of a robot whirling about and punching him, dodging it with a precise burst from his main thrusters that got him up quickly but not so quickly that he couldn't stop his ascent with verniers. After all, he only wanted to jump out of the way of that fist, not move out of close range. "How about this!?" At this range the mecha that disrupted his shot last time shouldn't be able to get in the gap! So just above the Drukin Nomake recombined the twin buster rifle and fired right at that thing's head!

He wouldn't be able to keep abusing the twin buster rifle like that, though. His data showed that its cooling systems were starting to overload and its capacitors drain. It might have enough power for more shots but the rifle itself wouldn't be able to sustain that sort of fire.

"Fuck yeah! Eat that!" Thomas whooped, clenching a fist as the Melbourne and a bunch of the Space Ark ships were sunk by the Wave Motion Gun. Whirling back he shot a grin at the Captain who, for once, shot a grin right back. After all, the 'Cheesestick' just proved that he hadn't been hand-picked to join the bridge crew by mistake. It was a brilliant long-range shot and no one would ever argue otherwise.

"That's why I say, hey Tom nice shot. Well done," Sedrick commented, his grin vanishing soon after as his command instincts returned to the forefront. That blast had certainly put a dent in the enemy forces but it also grabbed everyone's attention. He could already see from the viewscreen that one of the ships was turning away from the moon to head in the Yamato's direction. "Shields up, main weapons online."

"Not equipped with shields, sir..." Moeko commented, cocking an eyebrow at where Sedrick would have gotten the idea that there were any sort of shield device on board. The Gamilas had force fields that were able to repel conventional Earth weaponry but even with the Wave Motion Engine the Yamato had nothing of the sort in its arsenal of systems. It was lucky enough to be able to repel spaceborne particles at speed.

"Well then, buckle up!" Sedrick finished, smirking to himself about something only he would ever understand.

"Incoming fire!" the science officer called out as the Argama and her small fleet released their megaparticle cannons towards the Yamato.

"Evasive maneuvers! Take us under those shots, Takanashi!" the Captain ordered, to which Minato immediately complied and sent the ship into a sharp dive assisted by its upper attitude thrusters. With remarkable speed for a ship of its size it metaphorically ducked under the megaparticle shots, those purple blasts sizzling spectacularly past the conning tower. "Main guns, take aim and fire at will! Target: incoming enemy ships!"

"Sir," piped up Mizue from communications, breaking the self-imposed silence from her station. "I'm getting a transmission from one of the ships attacking the ship attacking us. They say they're from the 'Earth Federation Space Force' and want to know our intentions. I know you imposed radio silence, but should I form a response?"

"'Let he who is the enemy of your enemy be thy friend', it appears. Very well, it is not as if we have the element of surprise any longer. Broadcast the following on an open channel: Book 1 of Samuel, Chapter 17, verses 45 through 47."

At first Mizue was confused, but then she got his meaning and opened a channel which seemed to mirror the frequencies already in use. "David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied..."

As Mizue recited Goliath's final moments over an open channel Thomas took aim at the Argama, the Izafune and the Momotaro with the Yamato's three main shock cannons and fired!

Katie: Attacking Battas x Many
Nomake: Attacking the Drukin's head from point-blank with Twin Buster Rifle

"Dodge! Dodge!" Katie yelled over the comlink, but the warning wasn't really needed.
"Hang on then!" Sumomo said as she suddenly yanked the stick back, pulling her out the seat and restrained only by her restraints due to the resulting G-Forces on her body.

Since they were being shot at while they were flying forward, they had to have been aimed at with the purpose of leading them into the shot - so the simplest way to dodge it would be to arrest their forward momentum. Of course, for a much heavier unit like a fully loaded Zeta Plus BST, they needed to use a LOT of thrust to stop themselves, and they needed to redirect that thrust quickly.

The first part wasn't a problem - the second one needed a bit of ingenuity, something that she got from some of the Messiahs on Hatsunejima.

"THEY CALL THIS... THE SUMOMO SPECIAL!" Sumomo yelled as she pulled back the transformation switch.
She initiated the Zeta Plus transformation into Mobile Suit mode, but forced the system to stop halfway - keeping them locked in a strange chicken leg configuration, the same one used by the Messiahs of the SMS - Gerwalk mode!

... Of course, she really just wanted to yell that part out loud. The whole process did the trick though, as the suddenly shift of the boosters to the front stopped their forward motion just enough for the attacks to miss!

"Katie! You go on ahead, I'll cover you!" she said as she took aim at one of the tanks with the beam smartgun and opened fire!

It was almost time...the Inspectors remained on their defensive stint. While one of the members of the LFA forces decided to attack the Greaterkin, the blue mech merely raised the shield it carried in its right hand, doing no visible damage due to the unit's capability to absorb beams. Still, the battle was largely just attrition...what were the Inspectors actually trying to accomplish right now? Either way, Ashley would face two shots from the giant rifle it carried, the Mega Beam Buster as a counter attack.

The Gekigan types needed time to recharge in between Gravity Blasts, so they relied on their girth and their distortion fields to deal with solid weaponry and beam weaponry respectively. Still, numbers were the easiest way to counter the heavy hitters of the Inspector grunt force...though they would keep fighting the swarms of MS with everything they had, either by swatting away with their clawed arms or sweeping laser attacks from their eyes.

Nomake would certainly need to find something other than the Buster Rifle soon, because even though the blast was eating away at the Drukin's armor, taking off it's head, the Drukin wouldn't stop moving...it definitely crippled it's sight, but there was so much armor to punch through that it was just better for Sikalog to deal with things the only way he knew how: sheer force. This time, since the range was closed...the Drukin would merely attempt to bear hug the Wing Zero, and just crush it if he caught it...!

Shoko got hit with the lightning bolts...but the E-Field protected her again, though the lack of concern for who was around Agujia was a worrying trait. She didn't get hit with the full force of the attack due to how spread out it was, but it was still scary to see how much power was within such a fragile looking mech. Still...with the E-Field still up, Shoko began speeding up and setting her path towards the Silverwind...

"GATE BREAKER!"

The battas were indeed at least knocked away due to kinetic energy behind the beams, but the Smartgun's sheer power rating behind it was good enough to pierce a Distortion field to take a few out. Still, the path was clearing for the odd pair, but the Gun Sects still continued to support the other bugs with artillery fire.

"What!?" Ashley gasped as the shot connected with Greaterkin's shield and did no visible damage. The Sagittarius's Pilum Cannon was designed to have enough power to destroy ships with a well placed shot, but left no visible damage. But Ashley didn't have enough time to wonder what had happened for long as Greaterkin retaliated with two shots of its own. Flaring the massive thrusters along the back of the Sagittarius quickly evaded the incoming fire.

Quickly taking aim Ashley fired another shot from the Pilum Cannon aimed at the center of super robot. Ashley's inexperience was beginning to show as she continued attacking with the same strategy. But she was unsure what to do what else she could do.

Scream in frustration. Punching something. Launch in Renard and destroy the EFSF with his funnels. They were all things that flashed through Zode's mind as the Argama and its escort took evasive actions. All of the LFA force except for the Izafune avoided the incoming damage. The Yamato's blast raked along the left side of the Izafune destroying her launch catapult and one of her main guns.
But as commander Zode was unable to do any of those things. Instead he was forced to appear cool and in control. "Tell the SMS to fall back. Have our ship push forward and give the SMS some time to breath and regroup." Zode ordered loudly above the barley controlled chaos on the LFA flagship.

"Sir, what do you want to do about the Federation?" Andrew asked with concern. His concern was valid, the LFA fleet hadn't made any headway in diminishing the Inspector numbers, and now the EFSF was attacking as well. The situation was drawing dangerously close to the worst possible scenario Zode had envisioned while planning the assault.

"My order still stands. Double our push towards the base, we can't get stuck in the open between two forces. Put some distance between the Federation forces and the unidentified ship and hold fire for now. Then open me a comm with the Federation." Zode answered wearily. It clearly wasn't what Andrew thought the best course of action, but he was only a captain and Zode was forced to try and think about the larger picture.

"You are connected sir," the female communication officer said a minute later.

"This is Zode Bostitch, High Commander of the Lunar Freedom Alliance's military. What are you intentions in this situation? You open fire upon our flagship unprovoked. Your actions are defending a ship that is using other worldly technology and opened fired upon my fleet destroying 2 of my ships. By defending that ship and openly engaging my fleet you risk open war between the LFA and the Federation."

"The ship is unidentified and openly attacked first. It is not flying the Federations colors, so I was well within my rights to defend myself. The LFA is here to liberate the base form its occupation by the Inspectors and return it the Federation. So commander of the Federation fleet, I ask you again, what are you intentions by opening engaging my fleet?

EFSF Magellan-class battleship, Brisbane…

The Brisbane and her escorts made good time cutting through space to get between the unknown ship and the LFAs, though not fast enough before the unidentified ship fired again, this time with its forward deck mounted guns at the approaching LFA ships. Gills grimaced, noting how this was now beyond his control than ever before.

He also didn’t miss the message transmitted over the open channel from the unknown ship, and his grimace changes into a wry smile.

“Charming, isn’t he?” Gills commented to his XO, adjusting his hat slightly. “Helm, hard to starboard: broadside position. Relay that to all ships.”

“But sir, that’ll give them a chance to hit us where we’re vulnerable.” His XO warned.

“I understand the risks, but right now I need to stop this standoff carefully as we’re still in enemy territory if you haven’t forgotten.” Gills reminded him.

“Yes, sir.” The XO conceded, returning to monitor his consoles. The least the he could do now was ensure that they get out of this alive.

“This is Commodore Garret Gills of the Battleship Brisbane.” Gills began over the open channel once again. “You’ve answered your own question, Commander Bostich. While I appreciate the help you and yours are giving in this battle, this area is still Federal territory. May I remind you the specific line in the Treaty where LFAs are not to engage in combat near or in Federal designated territory or be considered hostile forces. As it is, I-“

“Sir!” The sensor operator suddenly shouted out in panic, her eyes wide. “I’m detecting a large energy signature coming from the base! It’s rising!”

“What?” Was all Gills could ask before turning towards the Mackenzie base…

---

SOUND CUE: [Lacrimosa Dominae]

Former EFSF Mackenzie Lunar Base, Inspector Super Dimensional Fortress Disva Kyedu Maligant

In the cruel void of space, no sound passes. And it was with such an eerie silence that the Mackenzie Base suddenly erupted from inside out as something huge was crawling, no, flying out of its cavernous depths, though with the smoke, dust and debris flying out in all direction covering it, it was hard to tell just what sort of abomination was being released onto the unsuspecting world this time.

At the same time, almost everything seemed to have come to a standstill, as if to witness the unleashed monster. At the most, the AI controlled mechanoids sent out to destroy the amalgamation of forces that came to reclaim the base stopped attacking altogether, allowing some of them to be destroyed by the still retaliating reclaimers.

And then, the prow of the Disva Kyedu Maligant emerged from the smoke, followed by the rest of its massive hull. It was massive vessel to say the least, dwarfing everything currently on the field. As it climbs to escape the Moon’s gravity, it casts an equally large shadow over most of the ships and mechas nearest to the now ruined base.

The proud smirk on Xin Gu Larity’s face was not missed by his executive officer and the rest of the main bridge crew. “Open all gun ports, but hold fire until my command. I want them to have a good look at the Disva first.” He commanded, which the crew immediately complied. All over its hull, innumerable gun ports of all kinds opened in unison. And for a good few seconds, the Disva Kyedu Maligant loomed over the surface of the Moon doing nothing, as if it appeared only wishing to be admired.

“Fire.”

And then, the illusion was broken, as lances of beams and dots of repeater tracer fire erupted from its hull, turning it into a giant, metal porcupine of death with the massive gunfire its quills.

---

EFSF Magellan-class battleship, Brisbane…

“EVASIVE MANUEVERS NOW!” Gills suddenly barked out loud to the bridge crew and inadvertently to Zode of the LFA and Sedrick of the Yamato over the still open comms channel as lance of beams passes by the Brisbane’s bridge, the searing heat from it melted some of the outer transparisteel shielding but otherwise still holding up the bridge’s integrity. They won’t be vented out into space anytime soon but if that happens, well, that’s why they have their normal suits on.

“Get all ships to regroup and return fire at that thing now!” Gills added almost as an afterthought, though the order was nothing more but mere token return fire. The many surviving Federal warships that wasn’t sunk after the first salvo of fire from the behemoth turns and swivels their guns up to return fire in kind, but their beams and missiles seemed only to exponentially increase the behemoth’s salvo, and many more ships from the Federal Space Force sunk as well.

“Howard!” Yuki cried out as the situation they were turned for the worse. Her sensors were now continuously blaring out warning of incoming enemy fire that it was practically useless, especially more so when they can them as bright as day outside the cockpit canopy.

“I’ll think of something, just hang on!” Howard shouted, banking his Armored Messiah hard to the left to avoid a continuous lance of beam fire that seems to be tracking his fighter to no end. Struggling, he smashed the armor purge command, and the heavy armor slowing him was blasted off the Messiah’s frame and left behind in space only to be shot and destroyed outright by a lancing beam.

It was chaos wherever they can see, and the Champagne and Marseilles were struggling to dodge the beams and guns. The Marseilles’ captain called for all units to retreat, but a beam suddenly shot through its bridge, silencing the ship before it erupted into a fireball that descended towards the lunar surface.

Former EFSF Mackenzie Lunar Base, Inner Perimeter…

“<Hang on, this is going to get bumpy!>” Ryotaro said out loud as he made the Ramrod dive down fast towards the lunar surface, while activating its defensive cloak armor to unfold and cover itself. The Ramrod’s escort ships, somewhat slow in response to the looming threat above, valiantly opened fire on the behemoth, only to earn them several beam shots that pierced their hull in an instant, rendering them into flaming, sinking hunks of metal.

Over the tacnet, the Ramrod crew could hear Gills shouting for all ships to regroup with the Brisbane, and with some difficulty of trying to dodge beam fire with the Ramrod's bulk, Ryotarou turns the Ramrod around back towards the battered Federal line...

I! CAN! FLY!
"Damn.. How long are we going to remain on the perimeter of this battlefield!?" Drake Yelled out over the communications.

"So long as you're told to." Came the curt reply from Sumata Tenryu. "All EFSF Squadrons under my control will remain on the exterior battlefield clearing away the enemy forces.. Leave the heavy lifting to those whom wish for death.."

"Tch!" Drake roared out firing his guns. "Atsuma, ARE YOU REALLY OKAY WITH THIIS?!"

~~~~~~~~~
Independence Bridge
"...." Atsuma sighed heavily. "Okay. Begin transmitting the data!"
"Sir, are you sure?" Monroe said nervously.
"I said transmit the data!"
"Understood." Ryans said firmly, transmitting to all the nearby vessels all the data they'd collected in their first encounter with Graterkin. Chiefly..
Transmitted Data
-Solid type Ammo Worked
-Beam type ammo would be absorbed
-however beams generated by tronium or magic were exempt, due to their unique energy properties.
"W-What the hell are you doing?" Sumata roared over the comms. "You're leaking military data to potential enemies!"
"We got hacked." Atsuma said leaning back in his chair. "Space hackers."
"I'll see you get a Court-martial for this!"
"Whoops. Comms got hacked too." Atsuma said calmly. The line suddenly went dead. "Atsuma to all aboard... And to all out in the battlefield.. The Independence Kai will be entering the fray. If your unit is damaged you can retreat behind our barrier until you can be retrieved by your own forces. If you need to you may board our vessel. If you need help please use an open line to communicate such."
"To all pilots of the Independance... We've a score to settle, no?" He smiled broadly. "Graterkin.... Is going down!"
"UNDERSTOOD SIR! Seven-Seven, R-1 intercepting!" Drake replied feeling his pulse pound.
"Seven-Six.. R-3 LAUNCHING!" Mason roared from SRX catapult 2.
"Seven-five.. R-2LAUNCHING!" Jameson exhoed from SRX catapult 3.
"TEAM SRX! FORMATION OOC HAS BEEN ENABLED.. .It can only be maintained safely for four minutes.. so choose your timing carefully!" Ramsus said over the lines.
"I told you doc.. .It's not OOC.. .Its... the VARIABLE FORMATION!" Drake roared, the three S.R.X. pilots flying towards Graterkin....
~~~~~~~~~~~

"That idiot.. He's going to get killed in the cross fire...." Sumata said clutcihng his face in his palm. However slowly his glare turned into a smile as he turned to his Communications Officer..

"Sir. We've got a rpeort.. A... A large machine.. No beyond large! It's enormous. A vessel the size we've never seen before has emerged!"

"What? On screen!"

The monitors switched to an image of the massive ship emerging, firing around it wildly and decimating everything. "I see.."He leaned back and released a small sigh. "It's regrettable but.. Prepare all EFSF ships... for indiscriminate bombardment of the surface.. Report to the brass that we fear the moon is lost."

"...W..What? But then all of them.. Even Atsuma's crew and our own in the bases."

"Relay the message ensign." He said firmly, leaning back in his seat with a thin smile. "A fool's end. Killed by his own forces. If he'd only stayed back with the fleet. Ah well, good riddance.."

Katie held on as tightly as her mobile suit's manipulators would allow, but even so she had expected to have to hold on for some sort of continued forward motion. When the Zeta Plus suddenly shifted its boosters forward like one of the SMS's Messiahs and halted their momentum entirely it dislodged the poor blue mobile suit, sending it rocketing ahead with all the speed Sumomo had just lost. Being smaller than the Hummingbird meant that at least she managed to dodge past the shots Sumomo had slowed to avoid, but she was still left pissed off. "Tell me if you're going to stop, dammit!"

"Katie! You go on ahead, I'll cover you!" Sumomo responded, whirling the Zeta Plus around and using it as a mobile fortress to take out the base's mobile emplacements while Katie proceeded onward.

"Tch... fine!"

Neither Katie nor Sumomo would be able to proceed any further towards Mackenzie Base, however. From the base emerged a ship so massive that it dwarfed not only every vessel on the battlefield but at first glance seemed to be even more massive than the SDF-01 Macross sitting in Hatsunejima Bay. Its appearance was so unexpected and breathtaking that Katie actually stopped her advance and switched to micro-thrust dodging to get a better look without actually being hit by the Inspector forces still firing upon her and Sumomo. "What... is that thing? It's... it's one of ours... right?"

Katie's answer came in the form of a hellstorm. The ship suddenly spouted energetic flames from every direction, decimating everything unfortunate enough to be nearby. In seconds her suit found itself in danger of imminent destruction and its pilot was left with only one option if she wanted to survive the next few seconds of battle.

Even from a distance a zig-zagging trail of red thrust could be seen threading its way around the Disva's attacks, moving steadily away to disengage from the battle.

The blast from his twin buster rifle at least managed to blast the head off of the Drukin this time, but his small victory came with an unfortunate tactical truth--it would only work this time. If the Drukin were not destroyed right now, then next time there would be no vulnerable parts to fire at if those weak shoulder joints were any indication. So it was time to do something drastic, something so typically Nomake that it made many a mechanic cry and many a tactician cringe. Rather than dodge, retreat, cool his weapon and return he chose to keep pressuring at point-blank. The twin buster rifle would be stowed under the shield on the left arm once more as wing binders were opened and thrusters set to full throttle. Instead of escaping the blind bear hug Nomake flew right into it, gaining just enough thrust to fly out of its grasp before it tightened. The Drukin was left crushing empty space while the Wing Zero stopped mid-flight and blasted downwards, slamming into the charred spot where its head used to be. Grasping a beam saber out of its storage rack with the empty right hand Nomake jabbed that saber straight into the Drukin, follwed by pressing the barrels of the twin buster rifle into that molten hole and pulling the trigger. The rifle whined loudly in protest as its cooling systems finally failed, but that didn't stop it from releasing its deadly energy. It simply meant that the rifle itself began melting away, starting from the barrel tips and working its way back. After this shot the weapon would be completely useless... but with luck, that wouldn't matter.

While the Zero System had a complete inventory on the entire battlefield--including the appearance of the Disva, Ashley's imminent danger and Katie's activation of EXAM--Nomake's focus was entirely on destroying the Drukin and so for once his mind was filtering out anything not related to that singular goal. Since ignoring that data wouldn't result in the destruction of the Wing Zero the Zero System chose to merely continue feeding data rather than forcefully take over by poisoning the signal. For now, at least. If the Disva's attacks got too close drastic measures might have to be taken.

Unfortunately for Ashley that meant her squad leader was also completely silent, giving her no advice or orders on how best to overcome her situation with the Graterkin...

"Shit! Pesky little buggers!" Thomas cursed as his shots almost completely missed, managing only to damage one of the incoming vessels. The Argama and Momotaro managed to slip by his fire, though the Izafune was glanced by one and lost a launch catapult and a main gun turret. The one positive aspect was that it proved the shock cannons were effective against the enemy ships, something that was somewhat uncertain during the Yamato's construction. Seeing a glancing blow do that much damage was a very good sign.

"Absolutely astounding, Cheesestick. You manage a pinpoint strike against multiple vessels from extreme long range with a single fixed weapon yet completely miss in combat range with no less than three turrets. Bravo," Sedrick chided, making the gunner wish his Captain weren't such a dangerous man. If it were anyone else, Thomas would've gotten right up and socked him in the face twice. Once for insulting his ability, then again for the 'Cheesestick' comment. Instead he was forced to shut up and take it, setting up for another shot.

"Captain! Massive reading coming from the moon! Something... something is emerging!" Moeko shrieked, causing everyone to pause in their duties for a moment and squint out of the viewports towards the lunar surface. At that moment part of the moon itself seemed to erupt as lunar dust masked the initial launch of the Disva Kyedu Maligant, the ship itself only visible a minute later as the weak gravity pulled that dust shroud back down to reveal a vessel so massive as to be inconceiveable.

"My God... to think the Gamilas would have progressed that far..." Mizue whispered to herself, sharing much the same sentiment as her shipmates.

Sedrick, however, found something utterly odd about that ship. It was clearly Gamilas in origin what with its ridiculous color scheme and organic-like shape. Yet as it opened fire, the shots were taking out craft originally thought to be on its side. "Moeko... Compile sensor readings for the battlefield and route them to my station. I want every single craft's data."

"Sir, that data would take a while to compile--" she began, then shrieked in fear as Sedrick bolted up from his seat and glared. Rather than pull his pistol, however, the Captain barked out another order.

"K-0T4 Analyzer, activate!"

From a recessed panel on the right of the bridge came a series of beeps and chirps as the ship's robotic assistant whirred to life and sped over towards the Captain. "YOU RANG?" it asked in a high-pitched monotone, awaiting orders.

"Assist Lieutenant Moeko in compiling all data on nearby craft and send that data to my terminal," Sedrick replied calmly, sitting back down and pulling his monitors closer to await the influx of information. He had a hunch about what was going on here and didn't like what it meant if he was right. "The rest of you, back to your duties! Mr. Franklin, hold fire until my orders!" No one dared tell the Captain that they were still very much under threat of attack, as no one felt like dying before the rest of the crew.

"RIGHT AWAY!" Analyzer chirped happily, spinning about and rolling over to the science station on its treads. "ACTIVATING INTERFACE!" Raising its robotic arms the thumbs of its hands began to protrude with a whizzing noise, elongating to reveal that they were terminal interfaces on long flexible rods that retracted when not in use. It should have been easy enough to get them into the terminal ports on Moeko's console, but for some reason Analyzer seemed to have a problem getting them to go in the right direction. One thumb brushed against the science officer's backside and the other seemed to try to push aside her uniform around her chest.

"Ah! A-Analyzer!" she protested, causing all of the guys on the bridge--except Sedrick--to sneak a look at the science station.

"AH SORRY, NOT USED TO THESE THINGS. HA HA HA," the robot explained, suddenly pulling back its terminal extensions then trying again. This time it managed to get its target right and plugged into the science station, immediately starting to run through all the raw data. After a few seconds it then spouted detailed schematics of every craft on the field to Sedrick as well as provided a complete trajectory/fire map. Moeko's initial map was quite detailed as it was, but this one's accuracy and real-time placement was a step above. Even though she still somehow felt... violated by the robot, she had to admit that its ability to compute on the fly was impressive.

Sedrick, on the other hand, was not pleased. "Just as I thought..." he muttered, unable to ignore the strategy at play between all the dots on his map. Now that he had a more clear view of what was going on, it was abundantly clear which craft were on which side and who was fighting for what. With only a 'tch' to admit his mistake Sedrick pushed the monitors out of the way and began to type new data into the ship's IFF. "The craft listed here are Gamilas. The rest of them are who-knows-what, but they're fighting against them so we have to assume that they're friendly until they shoot at us." His data relisted all of the Inspectors as Gamilas, the EFSF and HDF as Friendlies, and listed the SMS and LFA as UNKNOWN. "For now we focus on the main Gamilas cruiser. It's ignoring us so that gives us our best chance right now. Broadcast warnings on the channel that first ship contacted us with to get out of our firing arc and prepare the Wave Motion Gun for another shot! Scramble the Cosmo Vipers and have them go after the other Gamilas ships, ignore the Unknowns for now!"

It was a lot in one long order but the crew by now was used to his scatterbrained way of doing fifty different things all at the same time. Soma was already on the job of informing the hangar to launch all of their Cosmo Vipers, thankfully a simple task since once the ship was put on red alert all the pilots were to stand by in their fighters anyway. It was as simple as giving an order and a direction and off they went. The only issue then was the order to fire the Wave Motion Gun again. "Keptin! Wave Motion Gun will not have power for ten minutes, minimum!"

"Then we throw everything we have into it," Sedrick fired back, clicking open his link to engineering. "Kurosawa! I need anything and everything into the Wave Motion Engine! We need a second shot, now!"

"Right away," came the engineer's response without a single argument, already starting to divert power away from non-vital systems. When that wasn't enough he started picking and choosing vital systems that could be shut down, incidentals like the water and air processors, the artificial gravity generators, the ship's lighting, non-requisite sensor arrays, radios... anything that could be shut down without killing the crew or affecting the Wave Motion Gun. Even Analyzer's internal power source was linked up with the ship's power systems, feeding its own microreactor output into the wave motion engine.

Though the bridge went dark and most of the sensors were down, Thomas was already adjusting the bow angle from his station for a shot at the Disva. He had to do most of it manually and use his eyes rather than sensors, but if there was one thing he was confident about it was his ability to sight a target. The rest of the bridge crew, their stations dead and unable to do anything, turned and watched from the viewport at the dazzling flashes of distant explosions, or watched as the EFSF and LFA ships turned away in response to the new threat.

"You only have one shot at this, Mr. Franklin. Please make it count," Sedrick reminded his gunner, as forcing the gun to fire a second time so quickly would completely drain the ship of power and leave them both immobile and defenseless. Since they were so far away from the main combat zone that shouldn't be a problem, unless of course the LFA decided to take advantage of the situation and try to destroy them. He just had to hope that the Wave Motion Gun would be just as effective against that massive Gamilas ship as it was against all the smaller ones.

"Wave Motion Engine, charge at 100%!" Thomas called out, ignoring Sedrick's comment. Just a few more seconds...!

Action Summary

Lacking room for a complicated catapult and retrieval system, the Yamato's fighter compliment operated via a much simpler system: Launching under their own power from a small hatch on the ship's keel.

While more demanding on the fighters themselves and shortening their mission radius by forcing them to consume large amounts of fuel to launch, it also occupied considerably less space, and hadlittle in the way of damageable equipment. This was accepted in light of the Yamato's limited available space to accommodate both fighters and enough supplies to sustain them for a year-long cruise.

The CAG's craft was the first one out, dropping out the hatch under full afterburner, and making a rapid turn to engage in the battle. Although he never gave a vocal command, the comm channels on the rest of the squadron were filled with simple images.

For once, a certain Lieutenant wouldn't have to put any effort into translating their commanding officer's strange orders for the rest of the fighter crew, instead slowly shaking his head in amazement at the childish diagram filling their comm channels. Alex couldn't really be mad about it though, considering that it both made his job easier and still somehow managed to get the message across despite its simplicity. Still...would it really kill Vic to broadcast proper orders in a language everyone understood? Still musing on that particular fact even while the Viper he was piloting dropped from the Yamato's keel hatch, he had no choice but to follow the commander's trail with engines blazing red.

"On your six, awaiting orders."

Sumomo didn't have to answer Katie's question as the hail of laser fire came their way. She could only do so much with the bulky Hummingbird, weaving in and out of the deadly tracer and laser fire that came their way, as well as the artillery fire from the tanks. One round smacked against the propellant tank, forcing her to jettison it before the inevitable explosion sent her flying away from the entrance.

"KATIE!" she called out, hoping that her friend was allright. Without further ado, she decided that if the Beam Smartgun was somewhat effective, throwing in Beam Cannons should be even more so. She managed to swivel her way back into the half-chicken mode she was in earlier, allowing her to have all five beam weapons - the smartgun and her four beam cannons - pointed directly at her target.

They had to get out of here now - there was no point trying to infiltrate the base if something more massive had just erupted from it. Most of it was probably slag by now thanks to that flashy exit by the giant ship, so they had to at least get out of there! With that, she sent a hail of beam fire from all the weapons at the artillery units!

"Such a fancy machine is a waste in such pathetic hands." Mekibos announced simply enough, once more using the shield in order to absorb the mighty beam cannon. The fact that the attack was repeated proved that someone wasn't sure what they were doing with it. As such, the blonde pilot decided to make use of this and try to get something out of this annoying battle of attrition: the strange launcher on the left shoulder opened fire, sending...swords at the opposing Gundam. They were aimed to disable the things limbs, for a simple capture later. And while Mekibos saw the SRX headed this way...he knew that fighting it would be too costly, and opted to ignore it for now...it was just about time for their forces to pull out before it was too late.

The Gekigan types looked as if they were just about on their last legs as well, mainly regrouping themselves now that the battlefield was becoming a large mess for both sides. Still, they did have enough left in them for one more volley of concentrated gravity blasts at the opposing fleet, there were no pilots, no fear. They would take down as many as they could before they were no longer capable of moving. They had no place to return to, and the Inspectors could easily replace them. There were no good ends for these mindless soldiers.

Nomake's tenacity would also be rewarded as the Drukin's massive frame would succumb to the direct attacks. Wordlessly the pilot could only do one thing, escape in the craft that was built for this situation before his robot took him with it. The tiny support craft quickly ejected and then promptly escaped the battle field, and the pilot within hoped the explosion the Drukin made would take Nomake with it....!

The Thundergate and the Silverwind collided, both vehicles had the speed so now it was a matter of who had more power...and more will to win. However, Shoko gained the advantage thanks to Nomake's gamble: the destruction of her lover's unit caused Aguija to slip, and as a result her own machine got split in two. So, with the odds against her the fastest of the Inspector machine's would take its leave, following after the other Inspector before she was properly defeated. The standard swears for revenge followed as another major player was forced to retreat...

Though it took a lot out of the Thundergate as well it seemed, as that maneuver overloaded the engines, sending Shoko into...well a helpless drift for now. "The rest shouldn't be that bad at least..."

And with that, Sumomo had taken out what was left of the Gunsects. The walking tanks just firing off one final volley before they met their inevitable demise. These weren't reinforced however, proving that the battle was nearing its proper result soon...

As her second shot was absorbed harmlessly Ashley's frustration begun to turn into desperation. What was she doing wrong? How could she even fight this? Then things begun to go from bad to worse as the Mackenzie base exploded upward. Its sheer size and scope causing the entire battlefield to pause in awe. As all the gun ports along the ship opened Ashley's desperation turned into panic. Her breathing became irregular as the new ship fired upon the forces in the area. She had never seen fellow soldiers die in battle, and watching this many fall terrified her.

Frozen by her fear and panic Ashley didn't even notice the flying swords until they begun to strike her. In rapid succession the blades destroyed her main weapon, the entire right arm form the shoulder down, along with both legs. The force of the blows left Ashley dazed and floating vulnerable in space.

Broken. The LFA lines were shattered. The LFA forces just weren't prepared for the amount of forces brought to bear in defense of the base. Outnumbered, out gunned combined with the inexperience of the LFA army, created the worst situation possible. Not to mention the intrusion of the EFSF, or the randomly ancient warships, those were just icing on the disaster cake.

"Rally all LFA forces to the Argama for the moment our focus has shifted from the base to regrouping. Alpha group is cut off we need to reconsolidate all our forces if we are going to have a chance of surviving this. Captain Andrew keep me informed of the situation. " Zode calmly ordered despite the general chaos engulfing his forces as he walked towards the door. .

"Where are you going now of all times!?" Andrew snapped as Zode made his way towards the door.

“Typical Earthling Technology, barely putting up a fight.” Gu Larity commented with a slight show of disdain at the paltry defensive they were putting against the shadow of the Disva. “I can’t say I’m all too interested in them any more at this rate. I’d say we should just burn their homeworld and be done with it.”

“[That is not for you to decide on your own, Lord Captain].” A bubbly, digital voice said from behind him followed by tapping of a metal staff onto the bulkhead, the disdain in its voice for the title and the person wearing it obvious even with its artificiality.

Because under all the bionic parts and appendages that is bolted and showing visibly around his body, one would not have known that the Fabricator Captain Huron-Hal, Magos Mechanicus of the Inspectors Reconnaissance Force was once a living man a long time ago before berefting of himself of most his own mortal flesh. None dared to look to closely anyway, whether by repulsion of his very being or just the long, lithe bionic tentacles that snakes about around him. Not many in the Zuvorg Alliance would want much anything to do with the Machine Empire beyond their mechanical and engineering expertise.

“Ah, the Fabricator Captain himself, what an honor to have you on the command bridge. Does your humble abode down in the manufactorium bore you for once with its monotonous droning?” Gu Larity replied coolly and evenly.

Another tapping of his staff onto the bulkhead. “[Spare me your insults, Captain, I only wish to witness these Earthling’s technologies by my own optics instead of the after action report and wreckages we might recover.]”

“As I said, Fabricator, they are hardly worth mentioning if this is all they have to offer.” Gu Larity commented, gesturing to the slaughter around them. “In a few moments, all we’ll have are wreckages for you and yours to study.”

“[I shall be the judge of that.]” Said Huron curtly.

“My Lord, we’re detecting a large energy signature reaching critical levels coming from one of the Earthlings’ vessels.” One of the sensor operators reported. “It… seems to be wave motion energy, my lord.”

The look of utter surprise formed on Gu Larity’s face. “What? That can’t be. I thought the Gamilas was wiped out years ago along with all their technology.”

“[Records from the Earth’s information store does not indicate the presence of the Gamilas in this sector of space before. I would assume that the Earthlings have mastered the technology to harness wave motion energy by themselves. If so, then they are a threat to be reckoned with and an important study matter.]” Huron Hal mused out aloud.

A vid screen popped open in midair in front of the command platform showing the source of the wave motion energy readings: the Yamato. “Archives of the Earth Federation indicate that the vessel does not belong to them nor any of the factions here, my lord.”

“I don’t care where the ship comes from. I want it sunk this instant. Direct all our guns on it immediately!”

“[Captain, I must insist on prudence of attacking that vessel. However the Earthlings have it on their side, I must study it for the Archives. It could be valuable.]”

“If you haven’t noticed, Fabricator, they’re aiming at us and I don’t feel like giving them the pleasure of hitting us with whatever they have for us!”

“[Have more faith than just the Disva Kyedu Maligant’s armor and weapons, Captain. I helped designed this vessel and I should know it well. Raise the barrier instead.]”

“I hope you know what you’re doing.” Gu Larity glared daggers at Huron before turning to the bridge crew. “Evasive maneuvers! Raise the barrier, full power. Focus all on the forward hull superstructure.”

Outside, the many guns of the Disva Kyedu Maligant immediately went silent, finally giving a breather to those under its shadow but probably only just. A translucent aura of light then surrounds the entire vessel, and three guesses goes to what it means. Not one to take chances, the Disva also banked to the left, trying to get out of the firing line of the Yamato.

“And get the other Inspectors to come back here. We’re done with our primary mission objectives and will be leaving shortly.” Gu Larity added almost as an afterthought…

---

The brief moment of respite when the huge vessel suddenly stopped firing altogether was not lost on Gills, and as such, he was lulled into a sense of safety, assuming that the Inspectors finally had enough of massacring them for now. But it didn’t stop him from acting like a captain of a ship.

“Hurry and get us out of here, and hail that ship to do the same while we still can.” Gills ordered hurriedly, pointing to the Yamato. “We need to regroup while we still can.”

“Sir, the ship seems to be preparing to fire on the large Inspector vessel.” The sensor operator reported. “I’m getting a large energy reading from it again, like the one from just now.”

Steeling an exasperated sigh, Gills turned to the Yamato while taking off his hat. “God help us.”

Unfortunately for Sikalog, the explosion of the Drukin did little more than char the paint on Nomake's almighty Gundamium-armored mobile suit. Explosives and physical weapons had a history of doing very little against such a tenacious material, one only truly affected by beam weapons and other exotic forms of destruction. Out of the maelstrom glowed the menacing sensor eyes of the Wing Zero, the only truly discernable damage being the mangled ends of its once-powerful twin buster rifle. Its main systems housed closest to the Gundam's hand were intact but the beam collimation and cooling systems throughout the main frame were now a melted stump of metal and circuitry. With work it could be repaired but those repairs weren't something that could be done in the field.

According to his tactical data stream, the Drukin and Silverwind were no longer threats, many of the Gekigan-types and Battas were downed, and even the base defenses had thinned. If it weren't for the appearance of the impossibly massive Disva, it appeared that the tide of battle had turned in their favor. Unfortunately the presence of the Disva and Yamato were impossible to ignore and thus the thinning of smaller forces didn't seem all that victorious. So, then, what was the best tactic here? What was the best way to defeat the enemy? Well, that would be destroying the Disva.

"Hey, Zero... do you think we can destroy that ship?"

PROBABILITY LOW.

"...I thought so too. So that leaves..." Nomake muttered, glancing about his readouts for a tactical advantage. If he couldn't take on ships like the Disva or Yamato, the focus was better shifted to smaller targets more of his mobile suit's league. The closest most prudent target, then, was the Greaterkin. It had disabled Ashley's unit, so she was in need of backup anyway. Flipping the Wing Zero into an odd-looking version of Neo Bird Mode (since its buster rifle barrels were mangled heaps) he zipped across the battlefield, headed to engage Mekibos...

"Calling all HDF and SMS elements, this is Captain Howard Ming. We’re pulling ourselves out of this mess right now: we're done here. We’re now down to one ship left and if we don’t get out of here now, we’ll never be able to go anywhere at all. I repeat, all HDF and SMS elements, we’re pulling out now. Retreat to the Champagne ASAP." Howard's voice rang clearly through the comm system, reaching Nomake's ears with ease. Tch! With the moon so close... we have to retreat!? Damn it... Damn it! Damn you, Inspectors...! Now, rather than engage in combat he zig-zagged around the Greaterkin and extended the Wing Zero's arms (normally used as a sort of landing gear in Neo Bird Mode), grabbing hold of what was left of Ashley's Sagittarius and continuing on an arcing course back towards the Champagne.

However, with Ashley's mobile armor in his hands he couldn't save Shoko. There was only one thing left to do. "Katie... get Shoko safely back to the Champagne."

"Ro...ger..." Katie replied over a static-filled comm line, pushed to her frame's physical limits by lifting the restrictions on her mobile suit via the activation of EXAM. Already headed away from the Disva's firing arc anyway only a minor course correction was required to point her in the direction of Shoko's adrift G-Thundergate. Under normal circumstances her Blue Destiny would be hard-pressed to move such a massive craft, but this was no normal circumstances. They were in open space and she had the help of EXAM behind her. Bracing for the impact she rammed into the G-Thundergate's underside, hoping to save as much momentum as possible to push Shoko's ship back towards the Champagne. "Full... power...!"

The G-Thundergate appeared to have a stream of deep crimson flame eminating from its underbelly as it picked up speed and floated towards the SMS frigate.

Aboard the Yamato there was an eerie silent undertone to the thrumming buildup of Wave Motion energy. With all non-essential systems offline the familiar hum of things like life support air recirculatory pumps or gravity generators were gone, leaving only the high-pitched whine of the Wave Motion Engine to fill the remaining void of sound. It was disconcerting for a crew on their maiden voyage, a reminder that if this gamble didn't pay off there was little chance they would survive to ponder the outcome. It was victory or death.

Something's wrong, Sedrick thought to himself. The lights are dimming out there. The forces are thinning. Without radar or radio he had no direct way to confirm his suspicions but visually speaking it seemed that the battle was letting up. The flashes of explosions were quickly becoming scarce and the blurs of color blocking out the distant starfield were dispersing as well. Was the battle over even though the Disva remained? What was this uneasy feeling in his stomach? Why did it appear that perhaps it was not over... but rather, that everyone was just retreating?

"Wave Motion Gun, charged to 120%!" Thomas called out from his position, once more slipping the anti-flash goggles over his eyes as did everyone else... except Sedrick. The goggles, while they certainly protected your precious vision from the blinding flash of tachyon radiation, hindered normal vision enough that he wouldn't be able to see all the distant forces with them on. He needed just a few more seconds to formulate a theory!

"WAIT!" Sedrick yelled out, leaping to his feet and running down to the space between the gunner's chair and helm to get a closer viewpoint. Sure enough, the lights of explosions had all but vanished. Even the unholy fire from the Disva had ceased. To an amateur, it appeared that the battle was over. To Sedrick, however, he saw something very different. He saw, with his paranoia, an entire military force focused on him alone. To confirm his fear, the Disva began to glow and banked to port, pointing its bow right towards the Yamato herself!

"Soma, signal the Cosmo Vipers via flare to return to defensive positions!" was the eccentric Captain's first new order, followed by him bolting over to the gunner's position and leaning down into Thomas's line of sight so he could point out his new target. "You see that? She's coming for us. That glow's a shield and while I don't want to think the Gamilas can take a shot from us, I don't want to gamble. Aim ten degrees up her bow, towards that protrusion on her aft hull. The shields should be weaker if we don't aim directly at the bow." His orders now in place Sedrick ran back to his chair and plopped down, slipping his goggles down over his face. Soma had already fired the signal flares, so Sedrick merely had to give the order to fire. "Fire at will!"

"Wave Motion Gun, FIRE!"

True to Thomas's ability, the last hope of the Yamato blasted forth across now-empty space aimed precisely for the Disva's exposed main bridge, though they had no way of knowing from this distance that that's what it was. All they knew is that it would be like trying to hit the head of a pin with a laser rifle from a mile away, but if there was one man who could accomplish such a shot with no sensor backup, it was the Yamato's Master Blaster. After firing all of the ship's sound and light vanished, even the running lights going completely dim. By all accounts, the Yamato was now adrift in space, only supported by its squadron of Cosmo Vipers.

Come on... hit!

Suddenly conflicting goals notwithstanding, the squadron of Vic's Vipers quickly recieved their new orders from the suddenly distressed Yamato, breaking off their attack run before having even started.

Thanks to the commander's clear and concise orders, it was assured that every pilot knew their duty at this point was to keep anything off the Yamato while it slowly regained fighting capacity. An order made doubly clear by the simplicity of the presentation.

There were no words. Only God knew how Vic was still in any sort of command position when the only way he would give orders was via pictogram, but personal opinions aside, he was still the squadron leader and Alex was still going to follow his orders to the letter. Despite still being somewhat disappointed that they wouldn't get the chance to go on an attack run, he still turned around and followed the commander's fighter back towards the Yamato, ready to engage any target that headed for the ship.
