Brian was currently confined in a cell at Neo-Zeon's Gibraltar base. From what he knew, this used to an overseas British base, but rather than currently being a ZAFT base, it was held by Neo-Zeon. Elza had him handed over to base officials the moment they were arrived at the base, and was subsequently brigged. Wonder if this means ZAFT and Neo-Zeon merged? There's no way I can exactly tell.....hold on.... Brian then remembered something Elza had said much earlier when they were still in orbit. "Other than your Quebely and the GuAIZs used by the other pilots on board, there's nothing. I was there when they loaded everything up, so take that as you will" If he remembered right, the original Quebely was the personal MS of Haman Karn, one of the more prominent members of Neo-Zeon, while the GuAIZ was one of ZAFT's more recent models, designed to replace the GINN. If this "Neo-Zeon" had both, then it would be safe for Brian to assume that a merger had taken place. Also, if the GuAIZ was the most recent ZAFT mass-produced suit being fielded, then no wonder his false track record didn't hold up with Misaki or Elza. He had been thinking of the ZGMF-1000 ZAKU and the ZGMF-2000 GOUF rather than their UC counterparts, and since the CE counterparts have yet to exist, that was why they immediately suspected him, even BEFORE it was revealed that all the units in that Nazca-class' hangar were accounted for. Brian had no clue how long he would be holed up in this place, and he still had to think of what he would do and where he would go if he managed to get out of here......... "... Damn, damn, damn!" Misaki trudged her way towards the brig where Brian was held. She didn't really feel it was right to ask him to help, but all things considered, it was the only way.
"Goddammit. I guess if you do want to do things right, you have to do it yourself," she groaned as the guard who was at Brian's cell gave her a snappy Zeon salute which she returned. "Release him for now." The soldier kind of raised a brow. "Uh... but Lieutenant Elza-" "Not you too, dammit. I need him to FIND her. I've already been through some red tape today, and I don't need you telling me what to do again. If you get in trouble, I will take responsibility, understand?" "Y-yes ma'am..." With that, he opened the cell to Brian's cell. "Brian, looks like you got lucky," Misaki began. "You've got a chance to prove yourself. From what I know, you were going to be released eventually anyway, but seeing as we're low on manpower, I've decided to give you parole. That is, if you accept." |

Brian had fallen asleep an hour into his planning, and was woken up when he heard someone enter the cell block. As he got up, the guard turned to face the newcomer, who came into view. Misaki? She's still here? Wonder what she wants with me? "Release him for now." said The soldier kind of raised a brow. "Uh... but Lieutenant Elza-" "Not you too, dammit. That is, if you accept." ! Brian immediately stood up and directly faced her. This could be his ticket out of here. "Alright then, I'll do all I can to help. I'm really sorry for that mess I put you guys through earlier. Anyway, you said that you needed help with finding Lieutenant Lanster." Brian decided to formally refer to the lieutenant just to get into the habit of remembering how to address other personnel. "What's up, something happened to her? |

Misaki smiled a bit at him before leading him away from the brig and towards the briefing room. "Glad to see that you're willing to help. And no, let's try not to talk about what happened back then. From this point on, you are a Zeon soldier. Whatever your past was is irrelevant at this point, and you are to follow all orders the way a Zeon soldier should. As long as you adhere to that, you should be fine." She paused for a moment, the continued, "Besides, whoever put you in this world in the first place was probably either stupid or retarded or just really hated you to leave you here with that kind of setup. I mean come on, convincing Zeon papers?" she sighed before opening the door for him to enter the briefing room first. As soon as he was settled in, she began. "First things first. A few hours ago, we encountered a Zeon target that held a Federation prototype unit. Given the nature of things going on here on earth, we were afraid that it was going to be used against Zeon. The assault itself was only marginally successful though, as we lost our own prototype unit and its pilot, Lieutenant Elza Lanster, after its systems went haywire." With that, she pressed a button on the briefing map, showing a small map of Europe's mountain ranges somewhere near the Rhön Mountains. There was a large area that was highlighted in yellow. "Her last known location was somewhere around here. Your job is simple. You are to sortie in a GINN Tactical Air Reconnaissance Type and aid in the search. I will be going with you in one as well, as my Qubeley isn't really suited to such an operation. We will have a Fat Uncle transport plane on standby to retrieve her and the prototype. "Your mission objectives are clear: First and foremost is the retrieval of the pilot, dead or alive, and second is retrieval of the unit. If in the event of retrieving the prototype we are faced with Federation resistance and we are unable to retrieve it, you are to destroy it. Do you understand?" |

"Understood." "Alright. We'll be leaving shortly, so go get your equipment from the locker room and suit up" "Yes ma'am" Brian snapped off a quick Zeon salute. Misaki then directed him to the entrance of the men's locker room, after providing him with a locker number, a combo lock, and its combination. Brian went straight to the sink to wash off his face, then gave himself a good look in the mirror. I can do this. It's a simple search & rescue op. Brian then opened his assigned locker. Waiting for him was a ZAFT green flightsuit & helmet, a sidearm, its holster, a magazine pouch, a small folded combat knife, a survival pack, and a small box. Brian took off his jacket and placed it into the locker. Then he took off his shoes, and his KA-BAR, then placed the contents of his pants pockets, except his ID, into the locker before suiting up and putting back on his shoes, which would easily pass for combat boots, and securing the KA-BAR and his sheath where it belongs. Removing the sidearm from the locker, Brian identified it as a Russian OTs-02 Kiparis machine pistol. Opening the small box, Brian saw four fully-loaded 20-round 9x18mm magazines. After securing the holster on his right side and the mag pouch on his left, he inserted a 20-round mag into the OTs and holstered the loaded machine pistol. The remaining three magazines were placed in the mag pouch secured to his left side. Ready to go, he made sure everything was in place, locked up the locker, and walked out with his flight helmet in-hand and the pack over his shoulder. Stepping out of the locker, he saw Misaki in a red flightsuit, helmet in hand, carrying almost the same equipment he was, except for the KA-BAR. She most likely was carrying the folding knife instead. "Where to next, Lieutenant?" Asked Brian, as he was unfamiliar with the base layout. "We're off to the hanger, where our Fat Uncle will be waiting for us with our GINNs on board. The mountain range is pretty far from here. I doubt the GINNs will have enough battery power to even make it there alone. He followed Misaki as they made their way to the hanger where their transport was waiting. Entering the hangar, Brian looked around as they walked. Lined up on one side were a group of GuAIZ's, while the other held a couple of GINNs and a CGUE. Stopping at the foot of the stairway onto the plane, they presented their IDs, then boarded and took their seats in the passenger compartment. A few minutes later, the Fat Uncle was towed a safe distance out of the hangar, where it could fire up its engines and continue to the runway on its own power. After it was lined up, the engines roared under full power as the plane accelerated down the runway, pushing Brian back into his seat, before it pulled up and lifted off the ground, towards their mission area......
