What i mean by music theory is how music is written and composed, scales and harmonies and melodies etc. I have learnt all these things, and forgotten most of them. Just a few reside with me. The reason i mention this is that even though i can no longer read music, i am so much better at music writing and playing, because i now use TABS. So, what are your thoughts? |

Well I'm studying piano in college, so I have to think it's important =p Overall, I guess yeah. I think especially with piano knowing the key you're in/chord you're playing tends to help with sight reading (because you can more easily guess what note to play next). What are tabs? (I've seen them, and know what they look like, etc., but don't know how I would use them) |

Tabs are made particularly for guitars. Instead of 5 lines, TAB has 6, each one represents a string on the guitar. And instead of notes, it has numbers which represent which fret to play on. So you don't have to know any notes and can still play guitar |
