So it's obvious that in a fangame you want to copy the graphics style if you want to make some graphics of your own to put in the game. But very few people bother making their own music; they just use some music that's already in the game. Well with the fangame I've been working on for a few weeks, I've decided to make my own music, and I realized it's going to have to be in the style of the game, which is Megaman X5. This is much more difficult than I originally thought! First you have to make sure the instruments are right, then the modifiers, and the rhythms. Next the form has to be correct (see the "ABAC style for video game music" topic), and finally, everything has to mesh together. I'm working on some music now (as I mentioned) so I might be able to post up some examples soon. What are some of your experiences with this? Or have you tried it at all? (I suggest you do, though it's difficult it's also quite fun!) |
